I saw your post over on the general board and it is I that bought that I/S that you were looking at.  I am picking it up this weekend.

Going to put it back into good shape and will be swapping with my son Steven for the Tourer that I gave him.   He sent me a text on the Craigslist post and I had also seen it last week from the VRCC classifieds and pulled the trigger yesterday.

With Joe's bike now gone, did you feel the need to fill that void in your garage Brett ??   Wink
Steven gets an I/S, you get the tourer back, then all that's left will be a standard and you will
have the whole famn damily.  cooldude
Will you be opening your own museum of Valkyries ??

The kids are all grown, the dog is getting old, so I need something to fill the void.  I may want to get a side car and take the dog with us for a ride.  Martin put that bug in my ear Smiley

The old purple Connie is also coming back into the fold.  No idea what to do with that.  It was for Steven to work on Joe's bike but the boy has been working crazy hours so I ended up doing most of the work.  He bought a 2500 Ram diesel (and got his own loan  :cool dude: ) and now has no money to register and insure that.

Did I miss something?  You bought an I/S that you're giving to Steven and you're taking his (formally Ron Bou's) Tourer?  What happened to your I/S?

My I/S is still fine Tony and that is going no where.  I was poking around the VRCC classified and spied the I/S that I pick up on Saturday.  Then Steven was poking around Craigslist and sent me a link to the same bike.  The price was good and I know a little work it will be a fine machine.

I had quite a bit fun riding Joe's bike on a shake down ride and talking to Steven he suggested a trade.  We were thinking of putting a fairing on Ronbou's old bike, but with a trade we don't have to.

So I will get back Ronbou's old bike and still have the I/S as well.

Brett,
I have 2 seats out in the garage if you need to replace the one that is on the old girl. One is the factory original, the other is a factory seat with the Utopia backrest for the operator. I don't see me ever going back to either of them after using the Ultimate Lowboy seat.  Let me know...will give you a good deal.

Rob....What freaking rock are you hiding under ??
Once every couple years you pop-up and catch a breath of air....
It's kinda like 'whack-a-mole',.... never know when or where you will surface  laugh

Are you still living and working the same area ??
*probably slithered back under the rock and won't resurface until 2018*   Wink

Hey Terry....lol.
I am still around, same job and still living in Bangor. Put the house on the market a few years back but the market just wasn't there.  Crazy boss was run out of town and the work site improved, conceded to stick around until retirement age then skeedaddle South.
Still have my mistress...the Valkyrie but she gets less attention now a days. Share my time with the KLR and 21yr old Wrangler.
Found the balance finally between work and personal life, living the dream. Hunting/fishing and enjoying some grandchildren. Planning a 2017 Labrador trip on the bike to catch a brook trout then Alaska spring of 2018 for Salmon. ;-)
I went AWOL from the site for a year or 2 there, been checking in every few weeks this summer.
Give me a call if your free and we can do lunch some afternoon, love to catch up. 570-nine4six9

Absolutely will give you a call Rob....lunch and a lot of catching up !!!
Nice to hear your finding the balancing point between work and enjoying life.
Also good to hear your working conditions have improved.
I'm in Bangor on a regular basis... doctors and lawyers.

Hey Rob, sorry about the late reply as I have been swamped with work and old friends staying at my house for a couple of weeks.  Let me know what you want for the seat with the Utopia backrest.  I already have 2  factory seats, but way back when I did have the factory with the Utopia and it was good!

Rob, I was looking through pics, and I came across the one with you & DanL in Portland. Have been wondering how/where you were. Glad you're good, don't be a stranger...

Karen,
I remember that wet lonesome ride...I have some pictures as well of you and Dan from that day but struggled to get then to upload. Valhalla Voyage 2008, even have one of Hoy from NH in there with the opposite hand off.

Terry,
I have a few in there of some of our various BBQ outings and shenanigans as well. Good times and memories.  Smiley

Steven (the boy) has been working on the I/S that I bought.

This is what it looks like now:

He is taking it down to the frame and will sandblast and paint it.  There was a bent cross member where the kickstand attaches, but BigBF to the rescue as he has a pre-fab cross member and all we need to do is cut the old out and weld the new one in.

Lost of dirt and grime and it is good that it will be all cleaned up.   He plans on trying his hand again at painting.  The last time I ended up with what looked like a 'grow house" in my back yard.

All we have to do?  Most of us couldn't do it!  Good luck.  I know you and The Boy will succeed!
