After much behind-the-scenes cussing and discussing, the decision has been made to have the 2016 Hill Country Ride-In the weekend of Friday 21 - Sunday 23 October.  Ground zero will be the Leakey Inn (formerly known as the D'Rose Inn).

Start working on any roommate arrangements and please call soon to book your cabin(s).   cooldude

Please book by phone.  The number is 830-232-FRIO (3746).  I spoke with a nice lady named Dallas.  Please mention VRCC so she can put us all close together.

To check them out online, go to http://www.friocanyonrentals.com/

To check availability, go to https://secure.rezovation.com/Reservations/AvailabilityCalendar.aspx?s=OxOhR4ef36#.

If the cabins at the Inn fill up, the Frio Springs Lodges are 3-4 blocks away and owned by the same folks.

Hopefully, the rooms are blocked for us because none are showing available online.

I'll try tomorrow.

I have reserved room 4 at the old D'Rose.  They said only Sidecar has made a reservation so far and all other rooms are open. So, in a way, they are blocked since they don't show as available online.

However, anyone wanting to go needs to get their rooms.

We are a +2. They said that they are filling up quickly with 2 different groups and that the VRCC only has 3 maybe 4 reservations so far.

Anyone have a double booked that wish to share the room and cost?

I know I am late, but need to get out of town for a bit.  I will wait a little to see if anyone has room before I book a room also.

OK, nobody responded very quickly so I have gone ahead and reserved the LAST room at Leakey Inn.

However, it has room for more occupants.  I have a queen and two twin beds in the room.  Anyone wishing to bunk with me and split costs I am open to suggestions.

Contact here via PM (private message), email at aurox@aol.com or cell with area code two eight one, then 476 and finish with 3909.

Looking forward to seeing all there.

I've found a broken back works just as well as a heart attack for getting out of a ride.

Get better soon - do what the doctor says!  You are in our prayers.

It takes at least 25 shirts to get an order in, and it's a lot harder to do than you might think to get shirts for the ride-in.  Anyone who would like to volunteer to do the lead on the shirts for next year may contact me for the details of how to do it.

Staying with my theme of slacking off, I am just now trying to make reservations for this trip.  I called the Leakey Inn, but no one answered, and based on previous responses, I'm assuming that they're booked up.
We're considering Camp Live Oak, per a suggestion above.  Anyone looking to split a cabin?

Mark

EDIT:  We have accommodations worked out now, thanks.

OK, Rocketman has found lodging.

However, I heard from Hard 6 this morning and he said he has broken a rib and does not think that much riding would help the healing process.

Result is I now have ONE bed available.

Get in contact if you wuold like to share.

EDITED:  Extra bed now taken.  No room left.  Can't hardly wait for Friday morning.

Ray,

Would you like to change to a two bed room, I believe it is $275.00 for both nights.  Otherwise I will give it back to the hotel.  Please call me if you are interested as I don't check the forum often and I want to give them enough cancellation notice.

Thanks,
