If you're not already a member, I'll urge you to join. They aren't perfect (translates that they don't agree with my every opinion), but they really do a good job representing Texan shooting and firearm interests and get a lot of lobbying done on a relatively small budget.

You can join at https://www.tsra.com/join-3/  You can put my number in sponsoring member blank, but you don't need to 116951. They just try to track where new members come from. Life membership is available.

Here is some info on the regional meetings coming up they are doing jointly with some clubs following gun shows. They will have speakers, raffles, etc.

El Paso Sept 10 5:30 - (following the gun show) http://www.tsra.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/TSRA_ElPaso_RegionalEvent2.pdf

DFW Area Sept 24 5:00- (after the market hall gun show) https://www.tsra.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/TSRA_DACA_RegionalEvent.pdf

Amarillo Oct. 22 6:00 am - 8:00 pm (following the Amarillo gun show) https://www.tsra.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/TSRA_PGCA_RegionalEvent.pdf

I'm assuming it's ok to post this here since this is Texas oriented. Just trying to forward the cause.

I sure hope they are better than the NRA! I am a lifetime member, and they still come begging for more money all the time. It makes so mad when I see them in Vegas all the time throwing these elaborate diners and met and greets. They waste more money than any other organization I can think of. I will not give them another dime!

Yep, these folks at Texas State Rifle Assoc. are dedicated to lobbying at the state level and have been very effective in the past few sessions.

By the way, if you call the NRA at the number on the back of your card, ask for Membership and ask them to take you off the calling list and mailing list. They will do it.  I did that. They also do some good work, but some of what they do frustrates me, too.  Like many large organizations, there seems to be a lot of wasted money. That being said, I am a life member too and occasionally support ILA which is the lobbying arm.  In my opinion, we can't afford not to support them as they are the best we have at the national level and it is important to have numbers on our side. By the way, we are working to get a couple of more conservative board members elected right now.
