Central Florida - Eustis

« on: August 30, 2016, 06:57:55 PM »

Flew up on Saturday afternoon and Lesa picked me up at the Memphis airport then back to Dyersburg to her Mom's house.
Spent all of Sunday cleaning on the truck we would be driving home plus doing some work around her Mom's house that she is no longer able to do.
Monday late morning we packed up and left amid lots of emotions and made it as far as Dothan Ala.
Upper Miss. is a gorgeous area. Rolling hills and great 4-lane roads without a bunch of traffic. I remember this from when we returned on the bikes a couple years ago as well.
Today was take it easy day. We rolled down 231 all the way to 98 in Panama City Beach. Headed East on 98 and relaxed with the gorgeous weather and road. Getting hungry, we stopped in Port St. Joe at the Marina and walked around back to the restaurant.
I have to tell you this is a definite do-over.
I had the Seared Ahi wrap and it was all I could do to finish it. The tuna was fresh and the spices and the marinated tomato in it really balanced it.
Lesa and I had coconut shrimp appetiser and Lesa finished up with a good salad and ten big fried shrimp as well.
They have a remoulade sauce for the shrimp that was dynamite.
We stopped at a couple interesting shops along the way as well and got home around 8:30 tonight.
The truck ran perfectly and only ran through a touch over two tanks of gas. Pretty amazing for right at 910 miles the way we went.

We stopped in Mexico Beach to get this girl's toes firmly planted back in some good ol' Florida Sand.

Lesa outside the Pt. St. Joe Marina restaurant.

And a pic of that amazing Tuna wrap! .....and the plate full of fried shrimp!

Much thanks to the guys for posting up where to eat!
We almost stopped at Toucans and Killer Seafood looked really interesting as well but I was betting there would be some great boats to look at while we ate at the Marina so that got the nod.
Thanks again for setting us up!
See y'all up there when the weather gets cooler!

There is something about the PSJ area and Marina we really like it too, after our lunch there with fellow VRCC'ers, we wound up at that Marina for drinks and a nice sunset on the jetty road. Glad you guys had a good time.

So glad you got to enjoy some of the local site's and fresh seafood.  The Marina is right next door to what was once the St. Joe paper mill. There was no McDonald's, piggly wiggly, bank, or Marina the only thing there was a Discount Auto parts that is now Advance Auto.

Happy to be of service to you.
