I had a set of foam grips on my bike and I have always been a big fan of them.  The only thing that has bugged me since I put them on was how wide they were.  My hands are big and it is not like I was scared of loosing grip, but I just felt like I would have more control with something thinner.  So back to the motocross racing days I went. Picked up a set of pro taper grips for 7/8ths bars to see if they would go on.  Figured for 14 bucks why not.  Well they fit great and I love the feel of them.  Our bikes run so smooth I do not see the lack of padding creating a vibration issue and I feel like I could rip a set of whoops on this thing and still hang on.  Grip options are very limited for our bikes and this opens the doors for a little experimenting if you are so inclined.  Maybe you all already new this, if so sorry, if not, you're welcome Smiley

I also have large hands but have developed weakness in my old age. The OEM's weren't bad but I became attracted to thinner grips with a palm swell. This type is usually $50 and up but I found a pair of slip on grips with a fine crosshatch grip pattern in an all black rubber grip no frills. Biltwell 1" Recoil grips, about $18 everywhere and ebay, went on easy with hair spray, work great for me.

Wow! I have totally wanted pro taper, renthal or others to make a 1" grip.  I can't believe the 7/8" fit. Did you use grip glue? I want a thinner overall feel as well. Must be my moto x days. I bought the bitwell grips mentioned but did not put them on as they are too short in length.

Avon grips work on these bikes I have them on mine and I have also purchased a set of foam ones the go over the grip. I dont use the foam now but just the Avons and I dont believe vibration has anything to do with it I think its the position of the handlebars. I give the credit for the idea to Bscrive and another member found the foam. I liked the foam but it was a bit thick even though I do have big hands. I like the feel of the smaller grip but my hand starts to tingle on longer trips.

The Biltwells are same length as OEM, they stretch a little as you put them on, they will touch the switch housing if you want, I left maybe a 32nd" for throttle side. I like the plain  nature, I hate bumps from deco chrome ends and such.

I have honda grip cement, but it smells so bad i did not want to use it.  I always raced with grips held on with hair spray so that is what i used this time.  I will post a pic and link when I get home from my ride today.  Then I will have feed back too.

Sorry hungryeye not bitwell but Licks Cycles 1" Half Waffle Grips is what I bought.  Many moons ago I bought bitwell bars.  I want a waffle grip.

Did a pretty long ride today and the grips felt great.  No mistake about it, they are hard, but on this bike there is almost no vibration, and my hands did not get any fatigue. Since I have barkbusters, I do not have any handle bar weights either.  Had to remove them and they were heavy.  I am sure it is not for everyone, but I like it and feel very comfortable with them.  As far as a link goes, most motocross grips are pretty similar, I used ProTaper but any of the 7/8ths grips would work. I paid $14.

Interesting, what is your thoughts on having bark busters?  Had them on my kdx 200 and 220.  Wind?

That is the same cross hatch pattern that is on my Biltwell Recoil grips I do like the feel of that pattern.

I was also thinking of a pair of wind deflectors with cooler weather on its way, but something a little lighter duty. My single track days through the desert are over.... 2funny

Love my barkbusters, saved me from crashing and getting my hand crushed when I was side swiped by a car.  Really take the wind of of your hands too and it makes a pretty big difference in hand fatigue.  In the cold they are a must.
