Cool mornings lately. When I activate my turn signals it takes some time till they begin to flash. Any fix or idea why this happens?

Take your switch apart and clean it.

I had the same problem on my 89 Shadow.  Tried cleaning the switch several times, but the fix was to replace the OEM flasher unit with a new electronic flasher from superbrightleds.com.  Cost was $11.95 including shipping.  The one I bought was the Universal Motorcycle Electronic Flasher--LFI-S-Flat.  The OEM has three wires, and the new one has only two, but it was plug and play on the Shadow.  Never has a slow cold morning turn signal again.

Not sure if the Valk uses the same unit, but it is a Honda, and the flasher is "Universal."

A search for  Turn Signal Flasher turns up lots of threads.  Not sure if what I did on the Shadow is the same.  Below is one of the threads that talks about the flasher.  May be best to clean your switch first, and if that doesn't do the trick, then think about replacing the flash unit.

Good Luck.

Not just face saving Cheesy,  but that was my first thought. The Valk flash is a weirdo plug, so I wanted to check first.

switch to synthetic blinker fluid for cold temps.  Cheesy

seriously though, check for bad grounds, including bulb connections. can always try swapping out bulbs
but most likely it is the flasher. get a used one on ebay.

Same symptoms (slow to start flashing when colder weather) turned out to be the OEM flasher on my Shadow as well.
Replaced it and problem solved.

Mine has done it since day one 8 years ago but only in temps below say 46 degrees out.  I do not drive much below those temps but when it dips to around 44 degrees or lower,  it really takes my turn signals about 10 seconds to come on and start flashing.

Pretty sure is just a turn signal switch cleaning though or so I hope.

I have a mix of incandescent and LED bulbs on one of my Valks so I used this flasher. The knob is used to set the flash rate. It works perfectly and you can dial any flash rate you like. It's about $8 with free shipping. After setting the desired flash rate I recommend sealing the gap at the turn-shaft with a little finger nail polish to keep moisture out as our blinkers live in a wet area. Oh, and it's a three pin device and I did have to cut the OEM connector and add faston connectors for the hookup. The only one that truly fits our Valks without mods is OEM.
