Greetings gents! After taking with Nick and others the End of Oct ride is now set for the first weekend of Nov., 4-8th. This is the Natchez Trace Pkway ride! A terrific historical ride up to Nashville. We have 4 maybe 5 from the pan-handle saying that the date is good with them. Waiting to hear from PoppyG (Gary) who wanted to make the trip. Count Nick and his friend and well you can see it's going to be fun! The ride on the Natchez Parkway will be a relaxed ride, max speed 55-60 with some sections 45-50. The weather should be great for the trip. You all from Nick's area reach out to him and maybe you can ride up together. I'm at the last Milton exit #22 1 mile north of I-10. There is a Red Roof Inn at the exit if you decide to come up on the 3rd to make the early Friday 6AM departure. It'd be great to have you.

Y'all have fun and don't get in a hurry. We did it from Tupelo Ms. down to Natchez about 10 years ago. Howard and Pam and Wallie from Tallahassee and DDT from his earlier stint in Ocala. We spent one night in Tuplelo and the next in Natchez and the next in Biloxi on the way back. There is a nice park on the river in Natchez. There are several nice historic type sites like an old farm etc. You have to pick your gas stops to match towns along the way as there are no actual gas stations on the Trace. Speed limit is posted at 45 all the way so drive accordingly. If I remember correctly the trace was the way back to Nashville on foot or horseback after delivering goods down the Mississippi River and sellling all the goods plus the boat once you got to Natchez.

Well I can say that we lived up to our agreement that iffen we bought the cottage we would not leave the state for three years. July it was three so here we go NC for one week and then start the Natches four days after that. I got new Avon tires oil and we go.

I'm going to be working in Tuscaloosa, AL next week. So on the way up I'm going to take back roads to Tuscaloosa from Milton. So on the way home from our ride Ill have a good idea of the best roads to take. Lookng at maybe a total of 6-8 going from what it looks like right now. I think the temps will be pleasant. I'm excited for the ride, come if you can!

Guys I left Milton today for work in Tucaloosa,AL early Monday morning. I'm in the car but came up the way I plotted for us to come down from our trip out of Nashville. I must say I'm going on this ride before our trip. It was a ride like you'd expect further north. I think those that go will love it! Keith

Keith, do you have specific overnight stops planned and if so or when you do, can you share? Is this a reservations are made afore time. The inquiring mind wants to know.

Evening Jerry, We will spend Friday night 4th in Vicksburg then spend Sat. & Sun. in Nashville. Leave Monday AM and spend the night in Tuscaloosa,AL. Leave Out Tuesday AM and back in Milton, FL around 3-4 that afternoon. I have not made reservations at any hotel's along the way. I don't think that at this time of year it will be difficult to get rooms in any of the cities. Looking at maybe as many as 8-10 going at this time. Keith

After speaking with a few of the other riders going on this trip, we decided that after Vicksburg we want to see more of the trail before deadheading straight to Nashville.
So instead of 2 days @ Nashville, we will use the other day to leisurely make our way to Nashville, taking in more of the trip and probably stopping to take a room somewhere in the middle.

Evening Nick, great talking to you. Just to update you and others that want to make this ride. We agree that 2 nights in Nashville would be as you suggested a rush to get there. So I figured that when we leave Vicksburg on Saturday we can get about halfway to Nashville and that would be Tupelo,MS. For those that want to visit some of the Elvis highlights they have some to see. Now I've seen the Elvis adventure 2 years ago but that's fine with me and will find something to do. Tupelo will most likely be the Sat. night stay as well. We leave out Sunday for Nashville. Now with the more relaxed ride on the Trace Trail we can afford to stop at any historical sites that we would like to visit. The north part of the Trail is a great ride and I think all will enjoy. I'm looking forward to having you guys join us and we all having a great ride. Keith

Hey guys. Joe one of the riders going with us knows Nashville very well after living up that way for a few years. So I asked him if he could look into a hotel for us. The Trail ends at the famous Loveless Hotel so we will gather there for dinner. Joe has just informed me that he has found a couple hotel's near by where we can stay if you'd like. There are two hotels in the Bellvue TN area. Microtel on Coley Davis and a Hampton. Microtel is cheapest at about $84 and if you reserve early is only $71. If this is good with the group and it is with me, I'd like to save some $$'s and call for reservations. Since Joe knows this area so well I've asked if he would take us to the hotel after we eat. Let me know your thoughts and maybe a count on how many are going. Who knows we might get a better rate. I think our first night in Vicksburg we should be able to roll into a hotel and get some rooms without difficulties especially at that time of year. Im thinking the same on our second night in the Tupelo area. As always it's up for discussion. Thanks to all and this ought to be great.

Jerry and Sherry are in.
It does not have to be the cheapest motel, we are ok if it is more.
Just send us the ones that are reserved so we can call in. If any.

Good talking with you today Gary and I'm glad you'll be able to make the trip. You brought up a good thought about possible splitting a room with another rider. I know I did mention it to my 4-5 riders up this way. One of my riders may have his wife coming so there may be somebody out of my group wanting to split a room. I'll put it out in my group of folks and others will see this too. Nice thought also of bringing some camping gear, I do know there are place off the trail for camping. I also saw where "Danny Mac" who was on the FL board actually lives near Hway84 and I sent him a PM to see if he wanted to meet up as we roll that way. He said he might but was on the Trail in June. He will let us know at my topic listing if he will join up. Keith

Wish to heck I could make this ride, but have been served a warrant in a federal trial that will keep me home for the last week of the month and possibly in to the first week of November. And no, I am not being arrested or tried for any thing. I am a witness for the prosecution, and that is as far as I can say what is going on. Sucks to be me.

I just got off a cruise yesterday, and I was thinking about the same thing. I hope we will be able to do early voting, as this is one of the most important ones we will be voting in. Not that voting actually means anything anyway, it is so corrupt. I always said, if voting mattered, it would be illegal !!

Glad you looked in to that Nick. Trump is more right than most would recognize but let's get'er done! Also I talked to Gary, PoppyG and he said his leaving out real early on Thursday. He's packing a tent too if he could use it along the ride he may. I put that out if somebody else wants to consider. ??? I was in Nashville Sunday afternoon and left out on Monday for Birmimgham. I passed the Barber Vintage Motorsports exit and it might work out for us to get by there. I heard that the Rattlesnake Soloon that we were going to stop at on Monday for lunch might be closed. I will confirm and if so it could maybe be a Barber visit instead. Stay tuned.......... Keith

You all have a real good time: we just did that ride. I have one suggestion, since we just got back from a 9-10 day run up the Trace from Natchez to Nashville and over through the Smokies before getting home last Sunday night. It is simply this: don't count on easily finding hotels rooms wherever you go; it's leaf viewing season and rooms are tight in many places. Nashville is particularly tight.
Maybe you'll be lucky, but we found that at our late afternoon gas stop, if we could figure out where we were going to end up in a few hours, we booked ahead and lots of folks were scrambling for a bed. I could have rented out my rental property in Tellico Plains 4 to 5 times over throughout the month of October, getting 5 booking requests for this weekend during yesterday's noon hour.
Just a heads up.
Play nice.

We figure we were going to wing the first 2 stops in Vicksburg & Tupelo and make reservations in Nashville. It will be the first week in November, so maybe a little lighter?
