Hangin' out here beats a tree on the head any day!

yes...it's a bit early. but................just to let you know some details we're working on for the 2010 Cheaha....

FIRST...read my lips....the dates are ENGRAVED IN STONE. 30 April-2 May, 2010 I don't care what you may have heard ANYWHERE ELSE....THESE....ARE........the dates!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD. (and as i've told everyone over and over and over....Talladega race weekend is the WEEK BEFORE....)

Now then, some of the DEVELOPING details.........

We're thinking of having a Hawaiian Theme night on Saturday of the event. Lori/Motomama is working on an Hawaiian themed dinner/menu. And we're thinking everyone should TRY to wear a Hawaiian shirt or some type of Hawaiian attire to the dinner/festivities Saturday night (IF possible).

we'll add some new Hawaiian themed contests to the old 'traditional events'....like a limbo (how low can YOU go?)...maybe a Hula skirt dance contest.....STAY TUNED..... cooldude

The group ride route is put together. i'm going to actually go pre-ride it next month to finalize it. But i can tell you it will include some of the different roads we've done over the years...but yet, be a new "route" when looked at as a whole. For lunch, we'll go back to the favorite Sinclairs on beautiful Lake Martin...right on the lake....and i'll get that whole back seperate huge room just for us again...with our own cashier, etc.....for FAST and GOOD service. The food is great, the view is splendid. we did it like 3 or 4 years ago. Or was it 4 or 5 years ago? Anyway, some of the old timers have been there and like it!

The route includes going up and down the mountain....two stretches of my favorite BACK country roads (that i have included in years past on two seperate rides) in the Talladega forrest at the base of the mountain. It also includes Hiway 50...that REAL curvy road below Lake Martin we did several years ago. Bottom line, this ride incorporates several of the old ride roads...all rolled into one ride. The length is approximatley 177 miles....with several stops.

for something ALL NEW on the ride, we'll be stopping at Horseshoe Bend National Military Park off of hiway 49. Here are some links to the park for more info:

Of course, in addition to the new group ride on Saturday and the Hawaiian theme Saturday night activities, we'll include some of the old favorites....Ladies Tattoo contest....Redneck Hoola Hoop....Karaoke (got to get Reelay lined up...RAY...YA OUT THERE?)....DJ/tunes...prizes....50/50...etc.

The cost, looks like it will be the same $15 we charged last year. For that price, you get the dinner Saturday included....some free booze supplied....desserts....a free raffle ticket.....and we ALL get the use of the Baldrock Private lodge.  At the lodge, we can stay up as late as we want, make as much noise as we want...etc. It's the ONE PLACE...in the State Park where we can drink and do all things CHEAHA.

We hope to open registration in the not too distant future (cue Scott!!!!!!!)....as i need to pay the first bill for the lodge by 1 January!

So....stay tuned (NOT...quite time to Git-R-Done.....yet!)

But...will you be in Hawaiian dress?......Now the Hawaiians were all (male and female) topless until the missionaries came and showed them how to fashion coconut halves together with a string to cover those vital parts............I can have my brother send coconut halves for you if you dont have any.....  Evil

Tim, What would them hawaiians make a speedo out of........their men wore grass skirts too, however I would not suggest going commando with only a grass skirt ???
