Yup I have the cars here detailed and a couple of times I didn't feel like putting a coat of wax on her or getting all the nooks and cranny's clean so I had my detailer do it. I must say it was nice to be able to get on a clean bike without having to clean it myself. Make sure that the guys you get to do it know bikes and care some are just half hearted about it and can actually make things worse.

You have been too busy lately Steve  I posted about the secretary doing just that last week after she did her bike

Here is the pic of her doing her bike.

It is too cold now to make the poor thing wash and detail in the parking lot in her uniform.  She would get sick and then I would have to post the nurse.

I detail mine by puttign her on the lift and then gettign down and dirty with those brushed aluminum wheels. That's the only hard part.

I only quoted because the secretary is sooooo gooood at the wash job.

I do my own detailing.  Even if it gets a little too dusty, out comes the bucket of soapy water.  Last week was a two day ordeal, that's right, two days.  After riding home in a light rain and soaking wet highway from the CBR, there was this crap (that could probably only be seen on Black paint) that wouldn't wash off. Angry  Had to polish every painted surface and then wax it.  I've had the saddle bags off twice now this year.  Usually, that only happens in the spring.
A lot of people have asked what year my I/S is, and when I tell them, they can't believe it.  Just ask RJ.  He thinks I spend more time cleaning than riding...he may be right.cooldude

I've done a "detail" a few times on my bikes.  Did not enjoy it.  However it is a good way to inspect all of the things that might get over looked.  My detailing does NOT involve toothbrushes and toothpicks.
When I get a new used bike I do give it a detailed cleaning just for the above reason.  I always find some small (large) saftey issues.  The Valk (2 months ago) had bolts holding the saddle bag brackets that were 1/2" too long and would hit the tire.  There also was circuit that had a 30 amp fuse in the GROUND wire.

Oss youv'e posted quite a few photos for the secretary auditions, but I have to confess that this is by far my favorite.  However the search must go on!!

Uhhh....I'm sorry Bonzo....what was the original theme of this thread before Oss hijacked it?  Oh yes, I detail mine quite frequently.  As a matter of fact it is a function of how many of the kids are home from college.  When all 3 are at home, I LIVE in the garage detailing my bikes just to keep my sanity.

I usually go over mine early in the spring before riding season starts and then just knock off the bigger chunks as the season progresses.  Its way more fun to ride than clean.

I couldn't imagine shelling over the cash to let someone else do what I can do and probably just as well.   I consider it part of owning this beautiful piece of machinery.    After a long and cold winter, I really look forward to the afternoon in April when I will spend an uninterrupted 4 hours cleaning and shining every possible piece of my bike.   Heck,  I used to do the same thing with my Banana Bike(s) when I was a kid.    I remember my Dad yelling at me for using the GOOD Turtle wax on my bike.

Every winter they both spend about a month on the jack for detailing and maintenance.  Not at the same time, I keep one available for those nice winter days!   cooldude hoser

I usually do a good job in the spring.
I perfer a good ol bikini wash.  cooldude This one cost me $30 I look forward to nothing after heading to sturgis then rolling into Deadwood and pay for a bike wash. Didn't get one this year cause the bike was still clean after getting out there.  Angry Now going home was a different story. SE SD had alot of rain, 2" over lunch time, and it brought out alot of sand and mud. We saw a few snow plows out getting mud and gravel off the highway. I washed it when we got home and again after the CBR. Still have alot of stuff I can't get off yet.

fudgie if that was a bikini then............

franco if you had my secretary you would have her checkin your oil every chance you could

Here is her sister on the small boat checking to see if the motor is still back there. We use the small boat to get to the yacht when the highways are all backed up here in NY. Sometimes its faster to go by sea  And yes I have her checking that motor real regular

Need a ramp though to drive the Valk on. Maybe a winter project

The other chic got cut off upon posting...But yes, I was disappointed in this wash. They didn't tell you the price till they were done. For that price Ida looked around better. Bike was spotless tho since it took a hour to do it. Which was fine cause I was not in the mood to do anything.   Lips Sealed

The first year I had my bike I took it to a car wash and had a kid go over my bike. He was good. I just sat in a rocking chair and pointed out if he missed a spot. It looked nice when he was done.
That was back when i was washing the bike regularly.
I gave up washing the bike a good while back.
