Started hooking the bike on that cheap bike hoist to take the engine guards off so as to take the cobras off . the question is ,can the pipes be extracted with the guards on (bike resting on stands on guards)or do I wait for the next wrench party at LynnDell s hoping you still have the lift table or Hotglue s .Or take the chance with the stand in the garage?

Franco, I have a standard with cobras and there is no need to remove rails. Header bolts and hanger bolts. But with oem there is a lower section that has to come off, but not the entire rail.

Thanks Roid ,I was getting frustrated, too hot! got the right side done ,just having trouble with the triple tip added to oem exhaust not being in line, rubbing under the trunk support. If anyone has spare I/S tips I ll talk.

I got a pair of tips/ ends off some oem pipes. Not sure it's what you looking for. Might just call them chrome extensions. Let me know.

Franco,
I have a set of interstate exhaust with good tips if you'd like to discuss a tip swap. I am hoping to go to Lyn-Del's Saturday if the carb gauges are available. Can bring them then.

Well first, got a pair of tips from Dave in Katy on sunday,so that the I/S is finished as of four this aft. can t tell it apart from the tourer in sound. THe cobras I ll keep a while to put on the tourer while refinishing ,cleaning the oem exhaust on there now. The jardines that I was so eager to try, just will not fit either bikes and I will sell. seems the manifolds are too thick and will require longer studs on the heads or special nuts. Thanks for the offers but now am looking for a backrest or an old fashion mustang pillion seat, one that does not come forward onto the driver seat .

Those exhaust studs come out. Believe 6 mm. You could get longer ones and try the Jardiines.

Need to locate longer ones you re right cause the head threads seem to strip somewhat easily so id hate to back them a half inch .Called Jardines, they could not remember anything about those headers .Darn are our bikes that old?

6mm all thread. Just make sure the pitch is right. Check with Fastenal. Got some metric all thread from them, some time ago.
