So I have come to the painful decision to sell my bike.  I have 2 little kids and haven't been able to ride in the past 3 seasons.  I went to tune my 98 tourer up before listing her and found she needs a little work.  The carbs gummed and I had a rattle with the starter.  I think it hydrolocked and I broke teeth in the starter gear.
I pulled the starter and just got the worst possible news.  The gear I broke teeth off of is the one inside the case not on the starter itself! Cry
So now I am not sure what to do.  I don't have the time or space to drop the engine myself.  Do i get it fixed then sell it?  Sell it as a project bike?
Not sure how much it would cost to get that gear replaced.
thanks for your help

Part it out.  Valk parts are getting valuable.

Luckly, I've never had to deal with a hydro-lock repair, hope I never do.  I'm sure you will get some responses on what it cost others to make the repairs.  Having a dealer do it will be very $$$.  Parting it out is one option, but that takes time and a lot of work.

Hopefully, someone close to you will come forward to buy it out right or help you repair it.

Wish you lived in my neck of the woods, I'd consider it.

Good luck.

Don't part it out, please! As others have suggested, get some help to get her fixed or contact BigBF. Save the Phat Lady!!!
