Thanks for askin' cuz.

We live approx. 1 1/2 miles from the ocean. We stayed. Matthew made landfall about 30 miles south of us as a 2. Everyone within 1/2 mile of ocean was told to evacuate. By the time it got to us it was down to 100mph gusts. We were so close to the eye that we did not see as much rain (7 inches) as inland (17 inches), but the winds on the backside were fierce. We were lucky and only lost a ridge vent on our roof. The yard had so much debris in it, you couldn't see the grass in places. The streams, creeks and rivers are cresting over the next few days and flash flooding has already started. We are only 7 feet above see level down here and many areas are actually below sea level and have already flooded. We don't expect to flood here, but you never know when a levee or dam is going to let go. On a brighter note, we have a Columbus Day feast planned for about 50 people this Sat. Thought we'd introduce real Italian food to these red necks down here. Carol's already started cookin'. I'd invite y'all down, but you might have a hard time getting through the National Guard roadblocks.
Miss you all
