"AN APEX IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE"

Robertsville, MO

Well,

The stock dunlops lasted me about 4000 miles and it looks like that's all I got out of the rear Pilot Road 4 GT. Handling was dramatically more responsive with the Michelins and tracking was very predictable.

The stock sized 180/55 Pilot 4 seemed a fair bit thinner so this time I opted for the 190/55. While it does not seem like much it actually did not want to slide past the inner fender and the studs for the rear wheel.

I have heard someone thinking they will squeeze a 200 in there but I think that will be a dream. I will see if I can get a pick of the clearance on the swing arm when I figure out how to get my camera down there Smiley

Did you use an adapter for your lift for the Valkyrie? I have one like that but read  somwwhere you might need a adapter. So, I haven't tried it  yet. TIA.....

I have a 2"x 2" piece of would that rests on the back support arm of the lift and hits just in front of the center stand mount and the overflow tank. The front or rest on the flat spot of the engine case on the bottom. For added security you can place some small pieces of 3/4" x 3/4" wood between the engine case and the frame tubes where the font arm meets there.

I will put it up on the lift tomorrow and snap some pictures since that all may not make sense. Then I use straps to help keep it from wiggling around and block under the front tire to make sure it does not wNt to roll forward when the rear tire is removed. I don't think it will, but better safe than sorry.

Interesting, I might try a 190 when I chew through the one I got at the moment. If you want to have rock solid stability where you can climb on the thing put 2 car stands under the crash bars and one under the... not sure what you call it. It is part of the frame just in front of the swingarm. I put a third one there and then the jack can be pulled out.

I can climb on the thing tho I have found sitting on the back seat could be a bad idea, then again I am a heavy lad Wink

Looking forward to further info.

Holy crap!! You only got 4000 miles on the back.  I have almost 23000 kms (14000 miles) on my back OEM tire and I am not easy on my bike.

You must honk the crap out of your bike to chew them down that fast.  2funny

Doing many burnouts?  Evil

Yes I have never gotten the mileage others get. Love the twisties and love speed which are not a good mix when looking for mileage out of a tire.

No burnouts, I am to much of a wuss for that Smiley

Hey DS man...is that second image of the new tire the 190 model?  If so, what do you think of the bike's  handling with the larger tire?

Yep,

The second image is that he new tire. I will let you know about handling after my ride home today. My first ride on the new tire was with the little lady on the rear and she has developed a fear for speed.

I wore out a Michelin PR4 and a Pirelli Angel GT at about 4,000 miles. There's
Avons front and rear now. Only 1,000 miles on them, they look good, but
I don't hold out much hope for anymore wear. They are good tires, though...

Ha!  Cool...yeah, my old lady, even though she doesn't admit it...LIKES when I go fast...and fast I go at times...My favorite section of a twist...right outside of Lake Geneva...newly paved road....75-85mph...  By all means, lets us know about the new tire.  I love the way it looks!
