I have a new 2014 Valkyrie...I need advise on which is the best oil and filter to use in the South Texas Heat..I have a 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager, I use Amsoil 20w 50 instead of 10w 40, the heavier oil quiets the engine, the 10w 40 gets too thin in the heat..I also a K & N oil filter as well...I want to stay with a synthetic oil but want one that keeps my Valk lubed well and that will take the Texas heat..

I use the Rotella T6 5W40 as well.  Worked great this summer in the 100F heat.

I have used Honda full syn 10W30 in several late model Hondas in Phoenix AZ area, never burned a drop with 5k mile oil changes. Have it in my Valk now. Also used Ford Motorcraft 5w20 in a V10 Ford Pickup towing a 4500 lb Tractor around the Valley of the Sun all summer long, that also ran great. Its 2016 not 1916! 2funny

While I use Redline 10/40 I would not hesitate to use the Mobil one in the 10/40 or maybe the 20/50. The owners manual calls for 10/40 as the top weight as you may already know.

South Louisiana here.

Mobile 1 Racing 4T 10W-40
- Used "year around" in 2000 Honda Valkyrie, Triumph TBS, and Goldwing 1800 for the past 5 or 6 years.

No problems so far.
