Well, after 10 years the valks original battery was replaced. It still started the bike but i felt it getting weak so i changed her out with a new oem battery. I checked the date on the original battery and it was 9/99. The bike is a 01 so 10 years is not bad. I will take it out to the church and install it in the riding mower and see how long she will go.

This spring I changed the one in my 98, because of age it was still working OK.
Now the bike starts without touching the choke. I wonder if it gave my ignition a boost I didn't know it needed.

Funny thing is i took the bike out for 40 miles . it seems torun better. more even and no smoother.

These are are very well made machines. The batteries and charging systems let us use them longer than intended. 85% efficiency works with the batteries and  spark plugs but new parts is a wake-up to the way they ran when new Smiley

I agree with F-106, I just put a new battery in and I believe that the Valk runs better!  Don't know why but it just does.

I just changed mine last week...I will have had my 99I/S for 10 years in a month....and I know she was sitting on the show room floor for a couple of months...
