Late Autumn activities commence...that is winterizing everything outside and in the yard... including storing my Valkyrie.
Started it up...let it warm, and rode it to the gas station to top off on gas and stabilize the fuel. Holy CRAP..in the cold air that bike HAULED ARSE!!!!!! G** D**** that thing sounded KILLER...like an expensive European sports car. Total rocket in the cold air...
These bikes are so special....nothing comes close man... so unique.

I'm from Idaho. I'll ride as long as it isn't icy or snowing. It is all about the layers and looking extra "fluffy"!

I love winter in AZ, firing up the bike on a chilling 50 deg. morning and riding off on errands with the beautiful snow capped mountains 20 miles away

I would go nuts if I couldn't ride and will try to post some ride reports so the winter doldrums dont get you. Of course here in Fl we are coming into the best weather and rides. Its so much better without the heat of the summer and you feel like just spending days outdoors riding. Have to be carefull this time of year is when you dont feel the sunburn.
I have to agree with Adrian again that the difference in performance is noticeable with the cooler weather on these bikes. I got on it and thought wow is this the same bike.

Bob, and I know I am beating a horse here man but seriously...if you are not using ethanol free fuel...or at the very least, treating the ethanol in your tank with an additive...you again have yet to feel the full power potential. Oh, and 30w synth oil too...makes a difference man. Last weekend...my bike was a total rocket..WOW...and the way it sounds as the pipes break in...like a sports car...really cool.

I have found that one ounce of 2 cycle oil to 5 gallons of gas does seem to make a difference. I did try the non ethanol stuff but it didn't do much for me. But maybe its that station and to find a station when away was a problem so the oil does seem to make a difference. I also love the way this bike sounds, I'm like a little kid and sometimes when I'm in the garage Ill start the thing up and rev it a few times just to listen.

You are sensitive to it... I KNOW if you try another tank or two...ensuring that the old ethanolated crap is fully out of it's arteries...you would DEFINITELY feel the difference. Worst case scenario...go to Walmart and pick up some of that Stabil *marine* fuel conditioner...put THAT directly in your tank...like an ounce, maybe two... You will feel it man... Also, now that it is far cooler down there...try some of that Lucas Oil 10w/30 synth racing oil..for bikes... I'm tellin' ya man, with the cooler air...she ROCKETS...no crap...

I dont trust Stabil have used it in the past and had some adverse reactions in some outboards. I have used Seafoam and it has made a difference. Not big but a difference but I like the 2 cycle oil because it lubricates and cleans without using much. I can keep a 6 ounce bottle in my bags that doesn't take up much room and that I can use for 1200 miles. I would try the non ethanol stuff more if it was more readily available but on long rides, its impossible to find the stuff. As for the oil I agree it may do a bit better and even get better gas mileage but I just cannot bring myself to use a thinner oil. I like the shift of the thicker oil and the sound of the engine with the thicker oil since it does quiet a bit better. You have to remember I like full throttle but this bike is fast enough just the way it is to get me into trouble. I am still considering to go for the ECU programing though. The cat will one day be changed out but none of this is a rush.

As far as putting 2 cycle oil in gasoline for a four stroke engine? Never heard of that practice before! To me it seems counterproductive actually diminishing combustion... Could you explain to me how it could combat the effects of ethanol? Stabil, and other products designed for this purpose...do it really well...I just do not see the connection. BTW...I will do the ECU thing too...but only after the warranty expires. I still remember how much better my old bike ran when I richened the f/a mixture. I am sure this flash will accomplish the same thing...plus eliminating the timing retardation in gear one and two...I am ALL for that! You can really feel it change in third gear.
