This is the front stud of the grab rail and OEM cap nut on the front of my I/S trunk stay.  The nut is closed all the way, leaving a gap, shown in the crappy pic.

This fishe shows # 16 without anything else but the cap nut.

Something has to go there, there can't be a gap.  That ain't right.

Anyone?

Hey Bill, I think that's where the original passenger belt was fastened. The strap went over the seat.
I still have mine if you want it.

The trunk stay bolts on too the grab rail, using the studs mounted on the grab rail.  My pic, while not of the best quality, shows the trunk stay mounted and the OEM cap nut in place.

I think you hit it Craig, my seat isn't stock and doesn't have the strap.  I think it's a optional Hondaline seat, has leather like sides and studs.  I bet the PO took the strap off and sh+t canned it.

Thanks for the offer, if it fits my seat, I might take you up on that. cooldude

Now I remember, you had to remove the nuts and strap to get under the seat. crazy2

There is also a spacer that fits on the stud between the rail and the nut. I allows the seat strap to rotate when the nut is tightened up. I just use the spacers to fill in the space and don't have the  strap installed .  I have the Ultimate seats fitted.
