My son missed the armrests that I had on my GL1500, so I told him I would figure something out for the Valk. Didn't really like the bolt-on options but saw an ad for a "Tourrest" that caught my eye. They only made them for Harley's and didn't want to sell me one for the Valkyrie. Told me they would have a universal in a year or so.
I'm not very patient.
So, after making sure the backrest from my 2006 Street Glide would fit (bolted right on), I ordered one.
Using the stock Harley "triangle bracket", it bolted on in like 3 minutes. You could just see the stock lower tabs under the bottom of the bracket (if I pointed them out). My son loves it, and he feels more secure back there.
I shared my results with the manufacturer (Hood Leather) and they seem excited that it worked out.
I can find no photos or reference to anyone else doing this yet, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as an option for comfortable, sturdy armrests. It also moves the back-pad forward a little, which seems to improve the seating position. A well spent $200 (free shipping)...

They look alright. I don't ride my standard much anymore. But I think I like the removable armrests better. If the entire thing could be quick release I could see it.

They are still available.  Notice they swing up and out of the way if needed (to get on and off) and quick removal.
