Love Ridin With The wife!

Riverbank, Ca.

« on: December 01, 2016, 01:35:56 PM »

Well, I've been looking for a while and finally bit the bullet and picked up a new to me 2014 Valkyrie. I've been on here several years mostly selling Valkyrie parts. I've had a few 1500's over time but the new style really started to grow on me. I found this one in Phoenix with a few miles on it. I made my flight arrangements from California, flew in and rode her home this past Monday. 740 miles and you get a pretty good feel for a bike. New seats are a must, but man do I love the additional power from 65+

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the new ride.  cooldude

The new style took awhile to grow on me, too ... but once it did, I just had to have it. It's probably what saved me from being bikeless after totaling my CTX1300 before it, as nothing else really scratched the itch.

Same here , took a long time for me to accept the looks , now that I have her painted white , side covers too , I really enjoy riding her around , that made the difference for me .

The Rocky Mayers seat made a huge difference , too , I can ride as long as I want , still , after 1 hour , I am ready for a rest .

Welcome and congrats!  Smiley  She's a beauty all right!  cooldude

Yeah, seat is just about the only "must do" thing necessary on the bike, for some people even a shield isn't necessary thanks to that big headlamp assembly.  FWIW I'll just repeat something here again: if you like the Corbin seats but are afraid of them thanks to hearing so much about their "hardness", simply talk to the customer rep at Corbin when you order and you can get them to soften it up (you can even tell them your weight!).  Don't be afraid to talk to Corbin about your exact expectations, including your body and riding style.

777kingsman  is real close to  Shasta , where the Russell Day Long is made .

I am still considering a RDL   as I have always wanted one , the Mayer is fine , but the RDL is better , I believe

welcome aboard. I have not ridden that many miles straight but I average around 300 per trip out on the weekends and can say that I love my Corbin.

I absolutely love my RDL seat.  Spent a whole week in it this summer and was never tired of the seat.  Go for it, you won't regret it.

LOL same here. When I saw this bike on the web I thought "what an ugly POS".

Several months later I saw it at the shops front on and thought "What the hell is that"...

... then saw the rear and was back to "pos".

Now... best bike in the world.

Congrats Kingsman.

 Welcome 777Kingsman
Congrats to you on your purchase of the Valkyrie 1800 you made a great and wise choice. Your grin factor will continue even when you're not riding and just  thinking about the Valkyrie 1800. I wish you many safe memorable  adventures.  I  went with the Corbin dual tour it was my first mod because I had a upcoming trip with some friends. It's much better than the OEM seat (really anything beats it) but will settle in well after putting time in the saddle. It's also a good looking seat well crafted  and will attract many compliments. I never considered the  Valkyrie 1800 fugly ugly or unattractive.  It's not a reason for me to dismiss a certain bike. How I feel when it moves me along a stretch of highway am I excited or just taking a ride.  It's in a class of its own and not a wannabe. Lead or follow......I choose  to not follow the cruiser crowd  and it's  a great and wise choice for me and everyone else on this forum  too. Later...... cooldude

Thanks guys for the advise on seats! I'm leaning toward the duel Corbin seat. The factory is only an hour away from where I live in Hollister, and I understand they can custom fit me there.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Corbin.  I had one on my Interstate and I loved it.  I always wanted a RDL, so this time I got one.  No regrets on either one.  cooldude cooldude

I have a Corbin. They are great to work with and will let
you send back your seat for "adjustment" if it doesn't fit
you at first. And it is a beautiful, well made seat, too.

My Russell Day Long build date is Jan. 2  Wink

For me the Corbin is not a soft plushey seat but it fits perfect and 440 miles and back to back days --- 0 soreness!   Love it!

I'm still running the stock seat but I need to change that. I've spent too much time on electronics and lights. Time to focus on comfort again. To a new owner, I would recommend sorting the comfort factor first.
