New To Me August 2013

North Houston

« on: December 16, 2016, 03:23:05 PM »

Got my ride in today. Burned a tank plus some.

Wet roads, slippery wet leaves and wind blowing crap every where.  I actually got leaves stuck in my windshield vent. Did about 240 miles without laying it down. Not to many bikes on the open roads.  Lots of toy rides and wreaths across America activities.

Avoid Hwy 149 north of Montgomery as it is under construction.

My ride-Tomball north to Richmond, Huntsville, Livingston, Schwab City, Ace, Romayor , Shepard, Camilla, Coldspring, Punkin, Willis, Montgomery and back home.

Had a great home-style burger at old R&D gas/ store/ grill   corner FM 1988  and HWY 146 just south of Livingston. They even double cooked the fries for me to make them brown and crispy the way I like them. The store is 6 miles from my deer lease and I have been going there for 25 years.

I broke a sweat washing the bike and putting her up for the cold night ahead.   I then when over to my storage place and drained the water out of my camper.  Going from 80F This afternoon down to 30 tonight.

My warm clean bike looked happy when I turned the light out in my garage.  cooldude

We were part if that WAA ride from Porter to the  cemetery.  Wasn't a bad ride from Pearland, the roads were just damp the whole way.
Glad you got her out for a ride.

Nice ride Marcus. You headed out to big bend again this winter like last year?

I have not made ride plans for after xmas. I have the whole week off and need to think of a plan. I don't want to set around and  drink for a  week.   Looks to be a lot warmer than it was last year. Would be a good week to do another out west trip. First I would need to replace my front tires.  Both my tires are a year old and have about 13,000 miles.  I  can keep the dark side but need to replace the front.  Back tire has a rubber plug in it with about 2K mikes on it is it should be good.
I purchased new tires last month and just have not had a long enough ride to justify putting them on.

Santa is bringing me some heated gloves.
