Anyone up for New Years Day? I'm thinking Bagdad if the Diner on Main is going to be open.

It's 90 Miles from the Secret Spot to Bagdad. Leaving Bagdad come back through Peoples Valley to Yarnell, down the Mountain then home.

Secret Spot = 14559 W. Grand Ave. Surprise, 85374 Also known as a Valero Gas Station. Shares a Parking lot with a McDonalds.

KSU will be 0900 It's 90 miles to the Diner on Main and there are two gas stations in Bagdad should you need fuel. The Diner is usually busy so even though it would be great to be seated together don't expect it.

Return will be through Yarnell and down Yarnell Hill to the Memorial. If you decide to see the Memorial be aware that it requires a 7 Mile hike which I am in no shape to attempt.

Should you decide to see the Memorial you can leave the ride here as I will not sit in the parking lot waiting for you....LOL. There is Motorcycle only parking, they are the first spots as we pull in. Also Porta Potties should you need one.

From the Memorial we will continue to the Gas station in Congress. Mileage from the Secret Spot to Congress is 153.

I will not attempt to keep up with Ron, so anyone who wishes to test their cornering skills is welcome to join him in the lead on the twisties. 2funny

I'm into smelling the flowers these days. I'm content being a follower unless I'm behind Dave after lunch  Grin

9:20 or 9:30 to be at 60 and 74?

If my recovery continues as well as it has, I will join the ride, but I will have to be on the Spyder. I'm at least another month away from being comfortable on the Valk.

Hello all y'all

Wouldn't be NYD without a Valkyrie ride!  I'm planning on it and mentioned to a few east siders.  We'll see who really rides and who .... well never mind.

Thanks Tom for putting this together!  Last time at the diner I recall the burger and fries were really good.

Unless D&D can get me in tomorrow I'm out for NYD. Was getting my bike ready today and the bike would not shift to any gear or if I did get into another gear it was very hard to get it back out. After fooling around and pumping the clutch level 20 or so times the bike finale started to shift like normal. It seems to be working fine now. I will try again tomorrow after it sits tonight to see if I have the same problem. I assume that I have air in the clutch line and it will have to be bleed.

Well, I'm not going to call the ride. It will be an individual decision. They called for Rain for the last one and although it did rain it was later in the day.  I don't mind getting wet on the way home...

After giving it some serious thought, I've decided that I just can't deprive all y'all the opportunity to see me so if it isn't a morning frog strangler, I'll be at the secret spot! (altho how it remains secret is beyond me!) Dicey health concerns always keeps it interesting! I'll be the guy with no hair wearing very loose fitting clothes!  laugh laugh uglystupid2 2funny

Looks like we're out.  Psycho had skin cancer surgery yesterday and they took off half his face (mild exaggeration here).  Anyway, he's pretty miserable and his right eye is swollen shut.

Well, Psycho, that just plain sucks.  Getting old just is not for the faint of heart.  On the other hand, my significant other said if Micheal K goes, we go.

However, that was before yesterday afternoon when we spent 5 hours in the ER.  That was after some 12 or 13 hours of her not showing any signs of improvement at home so I drove her to the ER where they gave her a bunch of drugs. As they say, "Better living thru chemistry".  The ER doc diagnosed Cheryl with an inner ear issue causing 'positional vertigo'.  She is a 1000% better today, but who knows about tomorrow.  In any case, I get to spend the day cleaning all the puke out of my truck.

Then there is the slight issue with the wx forecast.  My little weather app is still saying a 90% chance of thunderstorms and rain tomorrow morning at the time I would have to leave for the secret spot.  As it was pointed out last NYD, I am Mr. Negativity when it comes to rain.  No, just a wuss.

So, between the vertigo and the weather, if we are there for KSU, we are there.  If not, hope ya'll have a great and safe ride.

Tim

Ya know between the Weather, Bike and Health issues it's getting harder and harder to put a ride together. This will be two weeks in a row we got skunked.. Sad

Now I'm wondering about the "Water crossings" on 97 to Bagdad. police

If it's raining is anyone interested in doing this in their cage? Shocked

I was thinking the same thing about the water crossing on 97 this morning. They should be running pretty good after 3 days of rain and I don't know if I would even like to drive a cage through them.  Smiley.

Let me know if your going to cage it up there. I bought Barb a Mini Cooper for xmas and it should be entertaining just watching me get in and out of the car.  2funny

If the weather is too bad I can always take the 4runner.

Wx looks bad! Let's bag it again and go for next week. Gonna be too wet for my old bones! Good point on the Bagdad water crossings! I've had to deal with a lot less water there on my bike before and as Ron said, a few days of wet produces major water coursing thru the whoop de doos! Looks like I'm bagging it again sheesh! Maybe Meathead could join us next weekend?  Sad

I hit the Auto show every year on Thanksgiving day and I always try on the Mini convertible. I always fit..
I'm sure it's just like the Corvette. I can get in and out of my Convertible with the top down but I have a hard time when the top's up..

She wanted the hard top with panoramic sunroof. No option to put the top down, so I'm I'm forced to squeeze in the side doors. Your right once you get in there is plenty of room and it is comfortable. More room then the Maita for sure.

Yep, that burger and fries looks really good! Don't let the fact that it's not some sort of human generated holiday stop us from riding somewhere. Let's do it next Sunday! So I've been hitting all the weather sites television and or Internet and it just looks bleak for tomorrow morning! Alright, now you guys have got me hungry for a sloppy burger and fries just stop it I say!

YUP, I'm calling it. The dog wouldn't even go out for his walk this morning.

Big Dave suggested Gila bend for a Quickie tomorrow. Any interest?  I'll start a separate thread since this one is getting to be a long scroll..
