Hi I would like to put a center stand on my 2014 Valkyrie. Anyway, I just bought a stand off ebay, and sent for the bolts and a spacer that doesn't come with the stand, from my dealer.

Anyway, I realize I need the heat shield that has the indentation for the stand and will order that soon. Anyway, is it tricky to change the heat shield? Any help will be appreciated. Its winter up here, and now is the time to think about center stand buy and understand the install....

I really look forward to a center stand for service and cleaning, and ect.

not at all, the exhaust shield is held by one bolt and a slip in tab. after you remove the bolt slide the exhaust shield towards the front of the bike. to install, carefully slip the shield on keeping a close eye on the tab then reinstall the bolt. thats it!

I remember removing some plastic panels under the head, then starting at front removing a piece of heat shield before I could remove the one that needs replacing. I must have missed something. Your method sounds 100% easier than mine.

I was fortunate enough to find a used heat shield on ebay for $25. Had some scratches but not noticeable once installed.

You're right. You do have to loosen that long exhaust shield to get to the bolt and you dont have to completely remove it. Sorry about that

I'm waiting for a couple things to arrive, found the Center stand on ebay, ordered the bolts and a spacer, and the heat shield from a salvage yard. Thanks for all help. I look forward to a center stand on my Valk.....

If what you call the spacer is the rubber thing which prevents the stand to hit the frame or the mufflers, I put one and it doesn't prevent anything, it seems to be too thin and the stand hits the left muffler.  Embarrassed

The rubber stopper for the center stand is actually an exhaust part. If you pull up the parts list at home or the dealer look at the exhaust parts list. The center stand rests on it so ot wont come up into the exhaust cut out.
