My son bought a KLR650 and I decided I wanted one as well.

Having a lot of fun with it so far. Looks like I'll be spending some money setting it up the way I want it.

It's a 2009 with only 2660 miles on it when I bought it. Sure is light and nimble compared to the Valk for sure. But you can't beat the Valk for the open hwy and long trips.

Great choice Dave and congratulations. I've had 2 KLR's over the years and enjoyed the heck out of both.

Congrats Dave...

I am kind of a a crossroads now too.  I have the two Ural GearUps, a built DRZ with a wide ratio gear set and a 02 KLR with a sidecar in parts.

Seems my old age arthritis is starting to act up to the point where I dont like riding the DRZ any more especially in the dirt... too hard on the wrists, legs and knees.

OTOH, a year ago last May, I took a road trip to Washington to deliver my ex 03 KLR to my son... it was the most fun I had in a long time...   so now I am considerng getting the 02/sidecar running again for use in off road situations and maybe trading the DRZ for a later model KLR which I would set up for highway work..    IF I dont like the KLR/sidecar in the dirt as much as the Urals, I might just sell the side car parts and reconfigure the KLR for road work... time will tell.

See you on the road.

Beautiful bike Dave  cooldude

I've been kicking the idea of getting a KLR myself.  Being vertically challenged,  I hope it's not to tall of a bike for me. Maybe a lowering link and a seat mod,  or maybe shorter sidewall tires.

Wear there's a will, there is a way  Grin
