Got an e-mail today from Honda Powersports advertising 2007 1800VTXs for under $10,000. For the Company (not a local dealer) to advertise this must mean there are thousands of these bikes.
Either they were too expensive to begin with, or it's not a bike people want.

I almost scored an '06 from a guy who traded one in on a Fury. It was at a dealer, Illusion Blue, HondaLine everything, floorboards, windsheild, sisybar, hard bags, 3,000 miles, $6200... Some people just want to move bikes right now!

Apparently, the 1300VTX hurt the sale of the 1800. They look almost identical and the 1800cc may intimidate some folks. They are both going the way of the Valk and Magna so, if you like them, now is the time to buy.

The 1300 is hurting the sale of the 1800 mostly because (in my opinion) it is the better bike. Maybe not quite as much power, but much lighter and better handling.

Momma Honda does this quite often, overproduces some years then has a firesale on 'em...
I bought my Valkyrie brand new, in the crate... She was a '98 model, and I bought her December 23rd of 2000... (And yeah, I can tell you that, but don't ask me the date I got married on, I couldn't tell 'ya!) The dealer had a ton of '98's on hand to choose from in multiple colors, I got to pick...
For $8999.....

Southern Honda in Chattanooga, is selling new 2007 honda vfrs for 5995. I sold my 2002 just a couple of weeks ago for $4000. and felt lucky to get that. They arn't the only ones though...I saw a harley dealer advertising new 08 models in stock, but had only knocked off 1800. off the price.

Not quite as much power? According to Honda, the 1300 has 76 Hp @ 5000 and 77.4 lbs. tq @ 3500 (measured at the crank) compared to 106.5 hp @ 5000 and 120 lbs. tq @ 3500 for the 1800.

I was refering to the "seat of the pants" dyno figures  The two units I test drove, the 1300 FELT quicker.

I understand they moved mfg. of the VTX 1800 back to Japan. They pushed out a lot of bikes before moving and didn't count on the economy slow down. I checked out a new left over 2008 VTX 1800 for $8,000 and decided to purchase my 2001 Valk.for $6500 and put in another $1500 for tires, windshield, stock exahust. The Valk is sooo much better.

Hmmmm, Yep. They over produced and need to clear em out. I got one of the first ones and wish I had waited a little while, since they over produced in 03 and did a fire sale on them as well. If you are thinking of a second bike, or even a replacement.... definately think about the VTX1800. I have the Retro and with the Avon Venoms... it handles GREAT. Granted, like the Valk, it's a bit bigger and heavier than a VTX1300, but more fun IMO. The 1800 does compare to the Valk size and handling I believe. With the proper seat, ULTIMATE for me, it will ride 12 hour plus ride days without even squalking. The 1800 is fuel injected, dual front brakes and hydraulic clutch (unlike the smaller, meeker 1300 which has carbs, single front rotor and cable clutch... not to mention less neck snapping power and torque).
So if you are in the market..... now is the time. VTX1800's have run well over 100,000 miles without major issues. Honda reliability.
