its not a huge issue but I think in traffic the clutch might get hard on the hand being a little bit of a reach for me where the clutch would be used to crawl

I have done a few searches and found some links to levers but they are no longer in stock

Most of my searches elsewhere have found them for the 1800 or gold plated prices for the 1500 (Some freight costs to NZ exceed the parts cost)

Will the 1800 valk ones go on the 1500 with mods? or what is out there that is in stock?

I have also found that the VTX 1800 has a smaller piston in the clutch master and seams to lighten the pull (found one thread where it was swapped out) which would be handy in stop start traffic but that is rare for me to be in traffic...so not a big ordeal, the GL1800 master piston is in between the two but the slave piston is the same for all 3 so one would assume they would all work with different weights and lever movements

Anyone have some lever links at reasonable prices?

I don't have an answer to your question my friend, but if you find a set in the US and I can help with getting/shipping them to you cheaply just reach out. Good luck.

I haven't used these, but some have. If I remember there is a little nub you have to file off. Hopefully somebody that has will chime in.

But really, the standard nonadjustable Kuryakyn wide chrome replacement levers for 1500 (part no. 7429) have the same reach as the adjustable levers middle setting.  The added width in the lever reduces perceived pull over the skinny OE levers.  And holding the lever in on a hydraulic clutch is not much effort.  If I have to sit for five minutes, I turn the bike off.

I had the kuryakyn levers that Jess from VA mentioned above on my Shadow ACE. They are wide and comfortable. It didn't occur to me they'd fit a Valkyrie but it makes sense. As far as reach that was not a problem for me nor did I notice an improvement in reach over stock. Then again I can easily palm a basketball.

yeah found the link to the Wingstuff page and those adjustable levers, but they are NLA, But the old forum page does show the 1800 levers should fit.

Adjustable is good to suit finger length but I had read the wide Kuryakyn std ones were good and those amazon ones have low shipping costs (unless it changes on checkout like it has in the past)  I have similar levers on my 1100 and do like the wider version but the 1100 ones still stop to far out (running VTX1800 masters on that)

Couple more things:

-  I had the adjustables on two interstates.  I did not set them at the shortest reach, I was afraid the clutch was not all the way out when shifting (no clunks, but I was afraid I might wear the clutch plates), and I did not want to pull the brake lever almost to (or actually touching) the grip for max braking.  So mine stayed at the middle setting - 3.

-  I broke two of the adjustables backing out of my shed (tight fit), on the doorway.  I only hit them at a very slow walking backward roll, and they broke apart at the adjustment mechanism, i.e. they fell apart into pieces (the actual hand lever did not break in two).  They are a bit delicate. They got replaced with the OE levers (on one side), which reminded me I did not like them.  I've since replaced them both with the non adjustable wide chrome Kurys.  I wear medium size gloves, large are floppy on me.

-  I do think the Kury wide chrome nonadjustable is a shorter reach than OE, not by a lot, but coupled with the wider blades (and a better angle on the outside half of the lever), it's a good improvement over OE, both for reach and for precise clutch and brake feathering.

- I run Kury Iso grips, which are fatter than OE grips, so there is a bit less distance from the lever at rest back to the grips.

-  If you get the adjustables, be sure to check your hand lever/brake light switch activation to the tail light, upon release of the lever.  Read the note added to my earlier link.  I had the same problem on one bike.  I would release the lever, and the brake light remained on for about three seconds before going off.  This caused some trouble in a group mountain ride where I was accused of riding the brake... I wasn't.  Like it says in the note, fixing the problem is tricky, and just tightening the screw does not do it (the screw is just a hold-in-place keeper).  I ended up taking the lever off and doing a little filing.  This issue is never a problem with the non adjustable wide Kury's.

I've used these from Amazon with the mods listed above and they work great.
