Switching out the bucket on the 98 to a black powder coated one keeping the chrome trim, to me looks sweet, but why is there so many connectors and a big wad of wires. How many wires go in and out that don't need to?

And now knowing how the three indicator lenses pop out who can I prank?   2funny

I don't have a good answer, but every bike I have owned (about 10) have been Honda.  All had a wad of wire and connectors in the headlight.  Seems like everything from the handlebars connects to the rest of the harness in there.   coolsmiley

If they weren't hidden in the bucket, where would you put those connectors?

None of them, unless someone has added accessories, then removed them but left the wiring.

Help me out here.

Three wires for the headlight and 6 wires for the indicator lights and 6 for the turn/run. That is what is active in the bucket.

I guess what some are saying is the connectors are a must and they must go somewhere?

Maybe behind the head tube covers some under the tank?   I know, it is fine where it is.  Just the first time I have taken the bucket apart, and yes easy to get to if in the bucket.

The following link is to RP's Expanded Valkyrie Wiring Diagrams, on the rattlebars web site.  You will find these schematics much more understandable than the ones found in the service manual.  You will find that all wiring servicing everything that moves with the handlebars goes into the headlight shell, then out to the various devices, including instruments and handlebar switches/buttons.  One thing that is nice about these diagrams (amongst others), is that they show where each device is located on the bike.

Great to have those schematics.  Thanks GR!
