Good report......I  remember the first time I hit the throttle at a role in 1st gear and got to 80 mph in third gear!!!!!!!   That was enough to let me know this bike had all the power and speed to take on almost anything on the road... Several times now being 3rd or 4th in our ride group and get to a long open road where you could see at least a mile of open road, I would pull out down shift to third grab a hand full and scream past in a flash to first in line! Then wait at the next stop sign for the rest of the group to catch up.what a rush!!!!!!

If it wasn't for the backrest on my bike I would have been left behind it many a times.  Cheesy
I remember the very first time I rode the new Valkyrie when I cracked it I almost lost my grip on the handlebars. That taught me to hold on a heck of a lot tighter the next time.  coolsmiley

woofred, I respect your enthousiasm but you must be kiddin' !  Evil

Did you ride a fast bike lately, 200 HP/440 lbs or even a less powerful one (let's say 185 HP - GSX-R 1000 ; 160 HP BMW XR ; Yamaha MT-10 ; Diavel etc.) ?

Yesterday on the highway I followed a BMW K1600 GT, but not that long. He was cruisin' 100 mls/h, I was 87 mls/h. I've bought the Valk precisely in order to keep cool and come back home safe by my own means. I had a BMW R1200 GS 2013 (only 125 HP/530 lbs) and after my crash I realised that this pure joy was dangerous (I don't remember anyone going faster, especially in precarious road conditions).

I have to agree with Ledany about the power and speed. I bought the Valk because I wanted to stay alive and didn't trust myself not to use the power and speed of something like a Kawi Concours or a ZX11 or any other type of go fast bike. Not to mention not only is this bike no slouch but the comfort at speed is just amazing.

Here in Florida lately the wind has been something to deal with. I was on 95 going south one weekend and the wind was so strong that it bent the windshield for a moment. Well the following weekend the wind died down and making a entrance on to the track and wanting to pick where I wanted to be and not wanting to deal with the those who dont know how to enter and having the most perfectly clear shot to be anywhere I wanted, I went straight out and twisted the throttle and accelerated to the left side and was just pulling away from all. It was so smooth and quick and the g's kept building and there was no bumps or any other distractions.

In the seconds that follow any action and when you have a chance to review and check all things after not having to concentrate so hard on just driving, I noticed triple digits on the display. So looking again at cruising speed and altitude I had noticed that the bike was so smooth and powerful and quiet that I really didn't notice the speed or RPM when in the middle of my moves. That is the real reason I posted this post because in that second I knew exactly the speed and the rpm because with no head wind and Just moving into position.  I was like  Shocked  ??? Grin   cooldude This was that moment when the forces that controlled things aligned at just the right spot for me. I looked twice at the speed and tach and really didn't believe it. I didn't try to do it, I wasn't worried I didn't plan it, I thought it and it just happened.

I was like in the perfect spot and just didn't want to slow down. At 6K in 4th just at the red line the bike showed no indication of any kind of complaint that would help me to indicate that something was wrong. I wonder if this was how he felt in vanishing point? I said let me try and shift and sure enough 5th took the RPMS down and I thought should I go more. Evil but I slowed a bit but cruised till I started to come up on some others. What a feeling, but had to get off the track to have lunch with the wife. Good lunch, good ride back and beautiful day to boot it doesn't get any better.

I know, I sound like a broken record,  but Man I love this bike cooldude.

Ya I have riden torquer bikes and maybe faster, my sons Honda 1000 crock rocket, not my style of bike very un comfortable bent over, to hard on my back and arms, and I test road the Honda VTX 6 cylinder. Got it to 120 mph before it went air born over a hill, toooooo much for me. My Valkyrie goes plenty fast, and has the kick acceration to nearly jump away if you don't have a good hold of it. Thats plenty of bike for this 67 year old, I want to live to enjoy many more rides,  have never had a bad crash or lay down, the closest bad one was a flat front tire due to a pot hole going 80, never want to go through that again. Thats just me, have know friends that died or crippled due to being stupid. You live your life I'll live mine.
