I just installed a 4 channel Rockford fosgate amp. The sound volume has increased and its clear. I'm considering adding a subwoofer inward facing on a saddlebag. For those of you with amp install experience can I share the sub on channels 3 and 4 with the rear speakers and adjust the gain on the amp to compensate for the needed extra power?

Pictures, model, price?

Was considering an amp and aftermarket speakers for better sound volume and quality.

A single subwoofer with a dual coil will work if you have to share the rear channels. Whether you put the subwoofer in series or parallel with the rear speakers depends upon the minimum resistance allowed for by your amp. Otherwise another option is to use two subwoofers to avoid tying the channels together.

the unit is:
PBR300X4
Punch 300 Watt BRT Full-Range 4-Channel Amplifier

The Punch PBR300X4 is a 300 Watt full-range amp designed for compact systems. This efficient 4-channel amp packs a Punch in motorcycles, ATVs and hybrid-electric vehicles without sucking a lot of juice from your electrical system.

    MOSFET output stage
    2/4 channel input switch
    12dB/octave Butterworth crossover
    High level inputs
    Ultra compact chassis
Variable 4-6 volt hi level DC offset voltage input turn-on control

I made a bracket in the faring and mounted it with a  sheet of rubber to prevent possible moisture from reaching it.

Series, parallel, resistance, looks like I have do so some additional research.

Just to add more confusion.  This crossover is meant to power a sub with input from the front speakers or parallel with the rears. Amazon has it, not too expensive.  Bonus also has bluetooth so you can feed it with your phone - Pandora etc.

Mark,

Is it just a bad idea to wire a sub in parallel with the rear speakers without this device. What is its main purpose besides the blue-tooth. I'm very interested in this product, are you using because you have a sub on one of your  bikes? Just heard back from the amp manufacture and they said it won't work unless I replace it with amp that handle a lower impedance?

Subs generally have a lower impedence than the front & rear speakers on a matched system IIRC. I wouldn't parallel a sub on channels shared with other speakers without a device like this crossover amp. Note the add'l sound controls on the sub channel. I think subs generally have their own amp.  I got this crossover to provide bluetooth for now.  No sub on this bike. To get great sub sound I believe you need a speaker cabinet bigger than I want to put on Jade. Have a subwoofer in my home theater with surround sound - sounds great but the box is too big to do the same on a bike IMHO.

Wouldn't one of these work with your system, it looks like a simple hook up.
