I spaced my oem Honda tall  windshield back 1-1/4 inches on my 2014 Valkyrie with short extensions and spacers on the lower mounting.  One thing I noticed is I can now look over my windshield in the relaxed position instead of through... Also it did open up more space below it, so not sure about that.

For those who have done this mod, will I get a noticeable more amount of wind hitting me?

One reason I did this mod is it seems I get some wind turbulence, helmet area and also with my visor up my glasses seem a little shaky.. I'm hoping this will help with that.

So any others who have done this, what is your experience with doing this mod?

I'm in Mn, so it will be some time before I can ride and find out for myself. I may try it both ways on a nice day and see for myself.... But I sure appreciate experience from other who have done this.

What materials did you use? I'm interested in doing this, but I don't have the capabilities to manufacture a bracket or spacers.

If you look back in the older posts on windshields some have commented on doing it and said that it actually helps quite a bit the buffeting. They also gave the methods they used and I have mine slanted more but did not add any brackets.

I found a scrap piece of flat stainless steel, that was just the right length, and width to cut in half. Then drilled holes 1 1/4" apart, (that's what I went with), and you will have to use spacers to make up the spacing, so I bought a couple chrome spacers, probable a little wider the a nut width, and 5/16 inch bolts are so close to the size of the metrics, so I had to buy two bolts, washers, and nuts. I had to also unbolt the top to be able to work the lower out, of how it fits, to be able to bring the lower out. A very simple mod.... I just don't like the more spacing above the headlight.. But willing to give it a try.....

Robert how did you get your shield to slant back more without extensions? And did it help any of the issues I am having with?

Wasn't a lot but enough for me, I was mainly concerned with the looks and a bit with turbulence. I then rotated the mounting a bit to get the best angle on the windshield. This did help, but found something interesting this weekend on my ride. If turbulence is the problem then take your hand at highway speed and hold it to the side of the ignition switch thumb on the tank cover and hand flat out to the sides over the tank like if you put airplane wings on the top of the gas cap cover. Feel how much air that cuts off from the driver and along with this windshield mod cut off quite a bit of the turbulence. Just as a side note I know someone here already did the same exact thing you are talking about and they were please the results.

Scotscooter, a little late to reply but I have done this same mode plus i lowered the windshield closer to Headlight cover. I can put my fingers between them. In fact i just posted this on a newer post called Windshields Only. The angle of my windshield matches the angle of the Forks and looks correct.
