I have the shiny desmog kit and want to install it this weekend.  I just wanted to confirm that I won't have to remove my cobra exhaust in order to do so.  Anyone done this?

I've done it without removing the stock exhaust. I'd guess Cobra is similar. You do need some patience though because it's not easy to get to the fasteners on the bottom of the engine with the exhaust in the way. The way I look at it is try it ... you have nothing to lose. If you can't get to what you need to then drop the exhaust. All it will cost you is time and some exhaust gaskets.

I've desmogged most of my bikes by just crimping and folding over the pair tubes.  Fast & easy and cheap & looks OK to me. No need to even look under the heads. Form follows function.

Update for future readers:
It is possible.  I did it.  Probably not as easy, but doable.
