GOD D*** I love that *ucking bike!!! Cheesy

Turned the suspension all the way down...accurate tires pressures, fresh oil...45 degrees F.  SHE RIPS!!!!!!!!!!!  Holy crap is that thing fast....  8200 miles now and she just keeps getting smoother and faster....  *ucker is gonna kill me if I don't respect her....  I love how the pipes are breaking in...sounds like a Porsche....growls...deep sounding and hyper.  This has got to be one of the best motorcycle engines ever made...

The only that sucked was the cold...  trying to get over a two + week nasty cold...  Went for about a 5 mile ride..and was getting cold..nose running.  I HAVE to get the right windshield for it this year.

Interesting. I just did my oil change at 8500 went full Honda synthetic, and didn't notice any really difference in performance. Granted, it sounds like a growling miniature dragon, or a Porsche. I also have had to really cut back on how fast I accelerate off the line. Much more power and I'd be doing wheelies! As it is, I'm laying some rubber as I take off like some kind of little crotch rocket.

LOL...I of course do not think synthetic oil alone makes all the difference..  It's the sum of everything that adds up to better performance.

This would be a short list:

1. 10w30 (THIRTY) cooldude Lucas Oil full synthetic oil.  I have tried them all, well the most popular brands...and I have found that the 30w full synth oil allows the engine to rev quicker and run smoother. The Lucas Oil 30w was the best of the bunch. (Honda, Amsoil, Castrol..etc.)

2. Ethanol free fuel, or at least fuel treated with an additive to treat that crap.
3. Fresh NGK spark plugs.
4. A more broken in engine.
5. Cool air temperatures.

Properly inflated tires...

Plus, I might add, that this is the first time I backed off completely on the bikes suspension dampening.  What a pleasant surprise in ride comfort...yet very little loss of cornering performance.

Not challenging anyone or trying to start anything, but just making a comment about my experience. I had a 1983 Goldwing I put 186K miles on, a 1987 Goldwing I put 132K miles on, and now have a 2000  Valkyrie Standard with 115K on the clock. I have used a lot of different oils over the years. In the Valkyrie I have always used Mobil One. I use the the Mobil one because of its outstanding lubrication properties. I have never noticed any change in performance by changing oil brands.  Just my two cents worth. cooldude

Mobil 1 is good oil, no doubt.  Use it in my cars...  and I have used the '4T' motorcycle version in all my bikes requiring 10w/40 oil.  However, two things.  First of all the current modern Valk calls for 30w oil, NOT 40w unless standard operating temperatures exceed what they deem as 'normal'.  The Lucas Oil 30w full synthetic oil is the best of the bunch.  I tried them all including Mobil 1 40w...  The 30w oil alone allows for the engine to rev faster due to the lighter oil.  Is it a huge difference, no, but it is enough that you can feel a slightly better *snap* in throttle response..  This I noticed first of all when I ported over from 40w petrol based oil in which I used for break-in.  So it is a combination from going to full synthetic oil (which in itself makes a difference..as this is with ALL vehicles), the correct viscosity, and lastly, the best brand.  Since you have used only Mobil 1, how would you know if there is any difference in the first place?

I am not dreaming man...I am extremely in tune with the way my engines run. cooldude  You should see the way I am with my guitar amps! Grin

Hi Adrian,

I am going to try the 10w30 Lucas when I do my oil change this spring.  Did you use the motorcycle specific one or just the regular full synthetic 10w30?  There seems to be a few different ones.  Does it matter which one??  Some are cheaper than others it looks like.

Hey Brian...  I have attached a pic of what I have been using.  Full synthetic motorcycle oil designed specifically for wet clutches.   I can get it at O'reilly Auto Parts here for $10.00 per qt.  Awesome oil...better then Amsoil, Honda, Mobil 1, Castrol...etc.  It runs really smooth with this stuff...best shifting, best performance.  lasts awhile too...

Thanks Adrian.

It looks like I can't get the 10w30 up here in Canada anywhere around me.   Angry

I guess I will have to pick it up next time I go to the States.

Hi Guys,

I can't buy from Amazon.com because they won't accept my Canadian credit card address for their file.  On Amazon.ca they want $65 for 4 litres and $26 shipping = $91 + tax.  I can get other stuff a lot cheaper.

Adrian, as for Ebay..did you check to see how much the shipping is?  $18/bottle Yikes.

I am going to the States in a few weeks and I will stop at Walmart, or some auto parts store along the way and pick some up.

I know for a fact O'Reilly Auto Parts has it.  I would 'let your fingers do the walking'..and call a few of their stores in the area in where you know you will be. I think their everywhere here in the states.

BTW..got the chrome stuff in the mail today..THANKS...looks really good.  Now I have to figure out how to switch it all out!

I found it on sale at JEGS for $6.60 each jug and $6.99 for shipping.  Came to $33.39 in total for 4 litres.  Pretty darn good deal for anyone else looking for this.  JEGS also does Paypal.  :cool dude:

Glad to hear that you got the stuff Adrian.  There is always the worry that it gets lost in the mail.  The stuff is not hard at all to change.  I have had my stuff off several times to do different things.

Wow, that IS a good deal!  Crap I paid $10.00 plus sales tax! Ouch!    Let us know what you think when you get it changed out.  There are a few here that probably think I'm nutz....who knows, maybe I am! laugh  The bike sure runs good on that oil though...
