Hi! John here.

I am curious as to if anyone is using protective tank pads (not the bib)?

If you are, would you be willing to share the brand and a review of how it/they are holding up?

I'm considering this option because I have a tendency to scrunch up to the lower part of the tank and grip the sides with my inner thighs running aggressively in the mountain curves and I don't want to wind up with the paint job all mucked up (black bike).

Thanks,
John

I am having a sign shop make something for my bike  and will include  black   roundish  vinyl  inner thigh protectors , like you are wanting .

You can get window tinting from auto parts store and will do the same thing .

If you look Ledney had them on his bike, I dont remember if he made them or if he bought them. I was surprised to see them the first time on his bike.

I know my cousin got some clear protector film for the rocker panels on his classic car to protect against rocks.  Looks good and you can't really tell it's there.  He has some left and I was thinking of putting some on my bike, but I may respray the tank with some really good clear coat that I got from Eastwood paints.  The clear coat is hard as stone when it cures and comes in a spray can.  It is a two part clear coat.

I remember in the 70s when motocross gas tanks were metal, it
was cool to see where the fast guys legs had polished a spot
on their tanks down to shiny bare metal...

I squeeze my 1800 tank too, especially now with the Russell seat.
I expect there to be some paint mucking on my 1800...

I have been using this on my tanks and am very pleased with the performance of the product.

Thank You everyone for the suggestions.

That's why I ask questions here. There is always someone here who has 'been there...done that' and I don't have to reinvent wheel.

Thanks again,
John
