I had to change the ignition on my 99 interstate today. When I put it all together, my display does not work. It has a couple of numbers on it that won't change but the clock, radio display or anything else that would normally be on it is not working. Also when I turn the key off, the numbers that are on it do not go away or change. Any Ideas how I wonked out my display with an ignition switch change?

Besides rechecking ALL the connections is Your battery COMPLETELY charged and is your alt putting out the proper voltage? If you do not have an electrical schematic please get one. Also there IS a lot of wiring in the fairing. RIDE SAFE.

If no one has had this issue that responds soon, I will go back through it. Not only do I have a schematic, I have it blown up to about 40 x 30 inches or so and laminated.

Just in case you do not have the really good schematics, here is the link to the ones done by RP on shoptalk.

http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/schematics/index.html

On the upper right side of the screen you will see S1 S2 S3 etc. Click on these, they are individual sheets that were drawn by RP. They are excellent and much easier to read.

Isn't it an LCD display? Then it's broken. With no power, there shouldn't be any thing displayed.

Just like the calculators of old.

Odds are that when you replaced the ignition switch you inadvertently disturbed an other connection either disconnecting it, or shorting it out. I would caution to carefully retrace your steps and investigate all avenues of your replacement activities. Not only that but also investigate adjacent connections that you may have disturbed in your ignition switch replacement.

I sure hope you can say that you disconnected the battery when you did the switch-over.

Check all your fuses just in case. There is a 15amp fuse for the radio.

I hope you solved your problem by now, but I just had the same issue with my Interstate. My problem was the 15a fuse label "Radio back up". I was doing some rewiring of some accessories and when everything was back together, the display did not work. Found the bad fuse and everything returned to normal. Good Luck.

What happened is I moved the Radio one too many times and a wire came loose in it. I fixed it with another radio from Pinwall.
