I'm planning on removing the CB on my Interstate. I can't find any instructions in my manuals or with the search button. I plan to start under the trunk and just keep following stuff until it's out. Hoping it's straightforward.
Anybody have any tips or advice ?

Thanks

Un plug tail light wire and rear speaker wire (if equipped) under right side cover. Feed wire out so trunk can be removed . Unbolt the trunk from the rails (bolts in trunk bottom under plastic plugs) and remove. Remove four bolts that hold the CB carrier . Remove antenna and power plug under seat. Done

You can find the manual on how to install here.

Just follow it in reverse.

NO! Don't just cut and pull.

Why not? If he is removing it he won't be putting it back so what's the harm?

I'm selling the CB as I don't use it. I'm good with the backend removal but am trying to figure out what wires go forward to the handlebar controls. I'm assuming that I will need to pull the tank and disconnect wires closer to the handlebar control.

As these bikes get older, the fewer parts are available. Ask someone to help if you don't know how to do something.

Why destroy something that we have fewer and fewer of? Just my two cents.

Lyle,
Nothing runs up to the handle bar control from the CB, the CB plugs into the radio under the seat and there is also a plug under the right side cover.

The link I posted is for other manuals, which includes the CB install for the IS and the std/tourer bikes.

You won't find it in the repair/service manual.

3rd down on the link.

Like mention, it is basically 2 into the radio, and the ant.

But there are extras and the hidden noise suppressor to. Where was the CB mounted? Under the trunk, then there is the brackets too.

The head set plugs, those are OEM and stay with the bike for the intercom which doesn't require the CB.

Thanks Gordon, never even looked, thought it was just the manual on Dag's sight. Anyhow, it's already out.

Cheers
