I don't want to use any camera ! Cyclists in London use it as a proof in case of an accident but IMHO, having a camera on board is looking for trouble, searching for faulty drivers. I don't want to prove in court that I was right and the driver was watching his phone (or my widow if things turn really bad), I just want to avoid any accident !
I'm not a cop, I overspeed every day

, I don't respect the lines

, in the Paris area the car drivers behave quite well with the bikes (with the bikes only

), I'm not either a soldier on the the battlefield and the drivers are not my ennemies. You know it happened once : a cop asked for the camera in order to check if the driver did OK. Yes, it was illegal but I guess it may happen soon ! I don't want to be my own prosecutor !

Cars are so boring, roads are so straight, how can you blame ?

Having driven in Paris, and observed how cars give bikes a breadth of room to split lanes at all speeds on all roads, I can say that it was pretty scary because I wasn't used to the culture of how drivers behave there. Once I was used to the culture of driving, I'd probably be comfortable with riding a bike there.
As for having a camera, I don't typically use it to record others driving or even for insurance purposes. I use it to critique my own riding. I evaluate if I was paying attention to road hazards, if I was giving myself enough space between me and the vehicle in front of me. I'm a pretty aggressive rider compared to other folks I've ridden with. I ride at least 10 mph over the speed limit all the time, and I pass cars as quickly as possible. I use the approach that if I'm faster than everyone else, nobody is going to have the chance of not paying attention and rear end me unless I'm at a stop sign or light.
The ride home yesterday was just full of people on their phones, and I happened to capture this one lady.
