Like the old saying...follow the money. Obviously the insurance industry doesn't want to give up the Goose That's Laying the Golden Egg. Having retired from State employment some years ago, I'm well aware of the impact lobbyists have on the legislators. One time nearly 20 yrs. ago, I really PO'd one state senator when during a discussion re. revamping our fuel tax laws, I became frustrated with the input from the fuel industry within our borders. I finally commented by saying "it looks like business as usual, the lobbyists make the laws and the legislators pass them." The meeting was adjorned shortly thereafter, and all the "suggestions" given by the industry were included without exception in the new bill.

Some years farther back on a cold winter morning(yes, it gets cold in Florida), a friend of mine was flying the morning traffic advisory over downtown Orlando. I was listening to his comments when he mentioned how cold it was. Then added "it was so cold this morning I actually saw two county commissioners with their hands in their own pockets for once." It was suggested he apologize on air but he refused, then added that if forced to do so he would also include some commissioner activities that had taken place behind closed doors. Florida has what's known as the Sunshine Law...can't do any public work behind closed doors. The request was dropped.

A little competition lets say 1500 providers could do a little damage to end this madness like auto insurance access. The corruption is the problem not the Health care. It seems to add more Gov just adds more corruption. We see what has happened  by the video (old news) and right or left makes no difference politics as usual. I have been Contractor 34 years first hand i can tell you let the insurance co"s beat each other up i wont feel sorry at all. And yes some good ole oversight is fine with me.

There are over 1700 companies offering health insurance in the US. Most states have a rule that you must use one based in your own state and there is the problem. When competition is limited they don't have to cater to anyone. You don't have to purchase car insurance in your own state and they are all fightng for your business. Seems that the best thing that could happen is to eliminate the restrictions as to which company you can use and let them fight for your business. Competition, it's the American way.........

Public service my a$$. This is why I believe in small government.  The less power these corrupt ba$tard$ (on both sides of the aisle)  have over our lives the better.

....and this is why we argue this point so much, it's not that we don't know we're getting the shaft, we just don't want the government dropping a new shaft and telling us everything will be better now. I do believe the status-quo is better than another immense government run program.
