As per the discussion at the meeting, I am offering up my garage (in Lake Dallas) to host a wrench party this month for anyone who needs or wants to come.  If you do need work done, please post what you need.  If given enough notice I can have some, or all, of the football (special tools) available.  I wont be able to do tire mounts onsite, but there is a place nearby who can do CTs (MT probably too), or there is a dealership north or south of here.

I will make a decision on Wed if there is enough interest.

I myself only need to chase a loose connection on my MP3/CB wire.

If there are many things on the to-do list, I can minimize my demands on labor by bringing the bee. I have to program a tpms headpiece to a new sensor. I also have one of Josh's daymaker bezels. Just need to order the daymaker.

If there aren't too many projects, I'll bring the IS. I've run a bunch of fuel treatment through it, but it still sputters. The slow jets are probably not perfect, but I'd like to pull the tank to go through vacuum lines, carb boots, etc. Cover set and screen set, too. It also has too much chrome stuff on it.

Would just like to attend and hang out.  I have my bike apart at the moment waiting on new shock bushings, should be in Friday.  If I get it all back together in time, will do my best to make it.  I am the one that bought David Barron's I/S.

Or not...   Roll Eyes

Considering the premise is to get a bike ready for GOTF and I'll be riding the Beemer (that already has bash plate and crash bars removed for oil change and repaint, respectvely), I'm going to resist the temptation to work on a Valkyrie and stay home to finish the F800GS.

Looking forward to the next one, though!   Cool

It doesn't look there is much interest for this weekend. However I still need to do a bit of tinkering with my wiring. So, I'll go ahead and still have the wrench party for anyone who wants / needs. I'll probably get started around 9am. If anyone shows up, great if not, no worries.

PM me for address if you need. If you plan on attending please let me know.

I've seen that bike go down a road riderless, do a u turn and stop, gently sitting on it's side.  It has good spirits!

I have a wiring issue with the fog lights I'd like to investigate - but have too much work this Saturday.  Appreciate the offer in any case.

So, I got down to looking for the short in the wiring since both fog lights are out.  Took off all the chrome stuff and then the tank, traced the wiring and checked for continuity.  Checked the switch.  So far, so good.  Then pulled the pods to see if the power was getting to the lights.  Got 12V to the leads.  So checked continuity on the light itself.  Nope.  Pulled the bulb.  Burned out - little element pieces rolling around.  So pulled the other light and   same thing.  What are the chances both lights burn out at the same time?  Never before.

So, heading up to get bulbs now.

It's always the easy stuff.

Guess I'll change the air filter while I'm here.

Actually pretty common for bulbs on both sides of a vehicle to go out a near the same time.  There was a recent discussion of this on the GL1800riders board.  Someone there had a similar experience to yours.  I've had it happen on the Wing -- first with the lows and then with the high beams.

Make sense to me since they're usually installed at about the same time and they get used equally.  Kind of speaks to manufacturing quality and consistency for them to last about the same time in similar use.

I had one go out 2 years ago and replaced it.  So one was old, one 2 years old.  That is why I'm going to look for a short. Ordered some LED replacements.
