It's not that it can't be found, but do you want to pay the high price for a cover?

I'm still stripping/pulling off the chrome of a badly wrinkled cover. Then I'll just paint it black to match the bike. $6.

Didn't someone post about a process to chrome plastic and other stuff the other day? I saw it somewhere.

My '97 still has the original, I believe...looks good.  My '00 wrinkled at 1 year and replaced under warranty...still looks good.

I just pulled mine off on Jade and cleaned the alternator.  I figure it's running hot under there, better to let the cool air get to it. If I get a round tuit I just might work over the outside of the housing with a sander and the polisher & call it done. It's aluminum it will shine up right good.  Actually I have a lo-mile OEM alternator off Deerslayer - replaced it with the Compufire when it had only a couple years use on it. Might just work on that one then slap it on when I get er shined up.  It only needs the shining on one side - should be pretty easy.  Good project for next week ifn I get my other projects done...
