Wink I changed my oil yesterday.  Trying Rotella 5-40 T-6 this time with an OEM filter. I had Valvoline 20-50 full synthetic in it. I'll report back if I notice any changes between the two.

It may not shift as slick as the 20/50 but the 5/40 is closer to what Honda recommends.

I will!!!  Lucas Oil full synthetic 10w THIRTY RULES, everything else DROOLS.. 2funny

I have tried them all, well, the most popular ones...(although not Rotella) and the bike is the fastest, smoothest out of all the others I have tried.

Wet clutch oil..done...I ONLY will use oil that specifically states this... police

btw..Did the spring oil change during February's *Grand Illusion Show*...once again I was fool thinkin' stinkin' Winter was done...nope, I was dumb!

Tomorrow is the Vernal Equinox, or the first full day of Spring...HOPEFULLY we will start getting some halfway decent, salt free rides.

I took Adrian's advice and bought the Lucas 10w30.  I will change it as soon as I can get out and heat up the oil in the engine to do my oil change.  Still too much salt on the roads for me to get out.   tickedoff

What in the world?  Why would you want to do that??!

The old oil has been sitting for, how long now exactly?  Meaning that the old oil is now all inside the oil pan, it has had enough time to completely flow out of everything it could.

Now is the perfect time to change it.  Why turn on the engine, only to force dirty old oil back into the nooks and crannies where an oil change can't get to?

Try it.  You'll find that you need more new oil than your previous changes, because you are actually changing more of it!

Sorry Adrian  Cry

I couldn't find the Lucas in a 10/40 or even a 10/30 so I got Mobil One 4t oil. I must admit its good for these bikes. That is one thing I wont do anymore buy an oil that is not readily available. Its just not worth it, these bikes can take just about anything and its only the owners ideas that keep the bike using the oil they use. Heck I bet you could use cooking oil and these bikes would do well.

Changed the oil a couple hundred miles ago and like the difference between the Redline 40w that I was using before. Still using the Purolator filter though.

Dinosnake, I will take your advice and drain it out as is.  I can let it drain for a day or so to make sure it all comes out.  The bike is inside in my heated garage.

Robert, I got my Lucas 10w30 oil at Jeg's for 6.60/quart.  Shipping was only $7

Robert, man it is available everywhere up here...  O'reilly auto parts man!  You are right though, you can run all kinds of oil in this bike and it is probably fine, however man, how much better does it run?  This is all I am saying.  Maybe I am nutz, but I can feel the difference, revs a bit faster, shifts smoother...runs smoother...not a huge difference, but enough that I can tell, and enough to convince me to use nothing else.
