When I purchased my 98 standard it already had the Kuryakyn grips installed. I have read posts on removing the stock but not the Kuryakyn. I have a different bar and riser combo and before I get started would like to know how these are installed and how to remove. TYIA

It would be the same procedure as any other grip. The only thing that might make it different is if the Kury throttle side has the throttle tube built into it. Most grips do not. You need to find out. If it's a separate piece, you loosen the glue with a small Phillips head screwdriver and a solvent like WD-40 and twist both grips off. On the throttle side just be careful when going in between the throttle tube and grip with a screwdriver, the throttle tubes are plastic.

I like using an ice pick rather than a screwdriver, no tearing things inside.

You'll need an itty bitty allen wrench to get the Kury Iso grip caps off.

Whatever, don't use hair spray. Hair spray is water soluble and if you get stuck in some rain the potential to have the grips come loose is there, which can be an aggravating situation, not to mention a safety issue.

Because grip glue and super glue gives you a half to two seconds to get them set just right before hardening, I use Clear RTV sealant (more in the grip than on the bar).  More on the end of the bar, little up next to the control housing; as you side them on, a bead of goop travels up with the grip, and you don't want to glue the throttle grip to the control housing.

Unlike OE and OE-style replacements, Kury ISOs should be positioned to have rubber rows under your palms and fingertips (like 8/9 and 2/3 o'clock), and you'd like to have both sides match in appearance, and the glue can squirt out the rubbers on install, and RTV is much more user friendly and easy cleanup than super glue.

The downside is my throttle grip eventually comes loose about every 9-18 months and has to be pulled off and reRTVed again (easy).  It never gets so lose it won't work, it just starts to turn slowly aorund the bar (and my throttle boss on the end gets out of position).  My left side grip has never come loose.

You should leave it overnight (or 24hrs) to set up, not 1-2 hours.

Any decent motorcycle shop or your Honda dealer should stock this. I keep a tube of Pro Honda handgrip cement on hand....although I don't use it anymore come to think of it. I have heated grips that I had to crazyglue on. (long story)

I have Kuryakyn grips and always wondered if they can be removed without damaging anything.
Has anyone removed these grips, what is the procedure? (exactly)
