Hi, just wondering, did anybody try or use the Rotella synthetic blend oil. The reason I ask is, over here the 100% rotella  synthetic is almost twice the price of the blend. I know the synthetic should  last longer then blend but is it worth the  price. I normaly use the synthetic but at 50$ a jug and 25$ for a filter it's getting expensive.

I use the Mobil 1 full synthetic in 15-50 but here in the lower 48 it's around 23 24 $ U S for 5 quarts. Haven't messed about with a blend. RIDE SAFE.

Crap, here Shell T6 full synthetic 5-40 (diesel) is $20 a gallon everywhere.

Never used the blend.

W full synthetic, I change between 6-8K, depending on my riding.

Oil thread... Grin...I run Rotella "T" 15 x 40 in my Valk. JASO- MA makes it wet clutch compatable and proven to me to be bullet proof under fire. Literally. Oil is an individual choice. I ran full synthetic in the Valk (Mobil) and did a comparison on noise when I went to Rotella. No difference  at all. You can run anything you want as long as it doesn't screw with your clutch.

For that kind of money, I'd run from Montreal down into NY State (Plattsburgh) an hour+ and do all my changes down there.  No customs declarations to make that way.

look up the spec's if it is like a few yrs ago the blend and full syn are the same except the full has lower temp pour point. all other specs where the same.
in other news, any diesel oil will work better than any other oil. a diesel oil has to survive like a hydraulic oil running the injectors, survive a 10k+ rpm hot exhaust temp turbo and survive and not shear when expose the the high shear, high speed piston due the long crank.
remember rotella is a group III oil blend and not a group 4 (amsoil) or group 5 (redline) oil.

The flat six made by Honda is really easy on oil... (which might explain the recommended 8K miles oil change interval *while* using Dino-oil).

Quite unlike a V-twinkie.
:-)

That being said... I wouldn't run anything *but* full synthetic in my vehicles.

+1  cooldude

due to todays' spec's just about all oil is a certain amount of syn oil.  just about all diesel oil is a mix of Group II and III. The 5w40s usually are mostly Group III mixed with other Groups.  The original so called syn oils are Group IV and V. After the Castrol vs Mobil case just about any oil can be called syn today.

Sorry, can't help you. At only a 1 hour drive to the closest Walmart in WA State, I drive down and pick up 3 US Gal jugs. One for my MC and 2 for my BMW. $20 USD each. Then a compatible filter for $5.

The T6 lasts for a year in my vehicles.

I've done the math, when I first used Amsoil on my Shadow 1100. Got 7% better fuel economy. I figured with the distance I drive, I was saving about $100 CAD each year, and only having to do one oil change per year, over using dino oil. And that was based on buying it from Canadian Tire, not an independent dealer.

What flavour of T6 should be used? 15w40? And just to be clear you can use diesel oil without having to do anything else? No special filters? No prep?

just pour it in.  I've been using 10w30 diesel oils, 10w30 oil is listed on tech manual up to 90F ambient, diesel syn is what I use, all temps, used oil analysis showed it was good for 10k miles.

In answer to your question. No, not all diesel oils can be used. Check them out and confirm.

I don't care which oil it is, check the Oil Codes on the back, and make sure it's the same rating for your vehicle.

The Rotella T6 syn diesel oil IS rated for our bike, and works just fine. Are ALL diesel oils rated for the Valkyrie? I don't know. Unless I looked at the codes myself, I wouldn't use it till inspected.

You also should look at your owners manual, and match it to the T6 the first time you use it, and VERIFY that it's right. You can have trouble using the wrong oil.

G,
JASO spec'd motorcycle oil are basically the same specs as heavy-duty diesel oil standards.
JASO does not test oils, manufactures pay a fee to JASO and state their oil meets the specs.

Ratings really mean nothing such as u mentioned. manual states 10w40, 10w30, 20w50, and 20w40,  using a 15w40 or 5w40 is perfectly fine to use.
