Registered awhile ago, now have the time off and looking to join any Valkyrie group(s) to ride in with. I will be leaving from Clearwater MN (along I-94) to arrive by Sunday afternoon for the week. Have tent will travel. Was at Spearfish and that was too much fun, so I'm BOB (Back for Billings!).

God Bless my Valkyrie Brothers and Sisters!  cooldude

I would send a personal message to TP.  Tom is the head of the Minnesota VRCC and lives in Apple Valley.  I will likely go out on I-90, unless I hook up with Tom and his wife, Nancy, or other members...

Think there's 4-5 of us leaving Sioux Falls and going along I-90 and stopping in spearfish that Saturday night and then riding on to billings Sunday morning.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Id take 79 out of Spearfish and catch 212 outta Bel Fourche. Its a lot better then 90 thru WY. 90 is soooo windy!  It comes out at the Little Bighorn so your a hour or so to Ground 0. If you gas up in BF there is gas in Broadus MT and you can make it to Garyowen (Little Bighorn). Hopefully it wont be 112 deg like it has been in Aug.  Grin From BF to Alzada MT there are a lot of semi's but they move very fast. Be sure to stop at the Stoneville Saloon in Alzada MT. Home of the Dakota Territory Riders. cooldude To bad your 2 months early for Topless Tuesday.  Smiley

That's the route I've been looking at.  But, I don't know about stopping at a place that actually advertises Lousy Food...

Good point!  Grin I think the bar is well over a 100 yrs old. They do have a huge covered area/ pole barn to pull under if weather is bad if you pass by.

Good idea on TP

Question though.........Do you know if anyone is going out through I94 by way of Miles City into Billings?

Thanks for heads up Fudgie, sounds like a better route than interstate all the way!
Think we'll do I-90 from Sioux Falls to spearfish, just to make good time on Saturday, gives us a chance to ride spearfish canyon sat afternoon hopefully!

Hey Fudgie, do you happen to know how far apart the fuel stops are going that route? We may have a trike with us that needs fuel at 100 miles.

Doubletap, I am making the run across 212 on my way back from Billings. I have traveled out in that area before as well as some added research, and here are my planned fuel stops. They are in reverse of your trip, but the miles will be close. I am turning off and visiting Devil's Tower in WY, so not sure of the fuel between Belle Fourche and Broadus.
Looks like you would need to fuel in Belle Fourche, SD and then:
Broadus, MT 95 mi.
Ashland, MT 46 mi.
Lame Deer, MT (I'm not stopping here, but it appears there is fuel)
Hardin MT, 77 mi.
Billings, MT 46 mi.

Fuel stops as stated above. I also heard not to stop in lame dear. I did once and it was ok. Busby also has gas on the rez. If you can make it without stopping at the rez then do it. I would stop at Garyowen (little bighorn battlefield) if it is open. Just watch for deep pea gravel in the parking lot. If its not open you can get gas at Crow Agency (10 more miles) but I wouldn't if I were you. They will hound you for money like crazy. Between bel Fourche and Broadus there is gas in Alzada MT. Right over the line of SD. Its on the right.

I always carried gas anyway but still stopped when I could. Now that I been that way enough I know where it is. Depending on your route it gets sparse once your in West River.
