Hi  everyone,

I purchase a set of grips, throttle cables, and left and right control housings with all the buttons and switches

I could use a little help on the right side throttle side where the on off and start button are located… There is a thin black wire that runs from in between both clips for the microswitch  brake light… The wire is exposed but appears to be factory…

Can someone please chime in and tell me where this wire should be connected

Also, any tips helpful suggestions installing the grips, throttle cables, or control housings and buttons?

Can I use contact cement for the grips?

Thanks everyone again

There should be only two "sets" of wires coming out of the right housing.  One goes to the headlight and the other goes to the brake light switch.  The brake light switch has two male connectors and the wire set has two female connectors.

Well, I can tell you on a Tourer or Standard that extra black wire coming off the brake switch connection is not factory. I'd guess the PO used it to trigger some other circuit...or he had a problem with his brake switch wiring at the bars and bypassed it. I'd hook up the brake switch, test it, and if it works cut and seal that wire...or unsolder it. Thing is you are reusing a section of his wiring. Just keep in mind it may be bad if the brake switch does not work.  Just thought of something else. Can you trace that wire and tell us where it goes? If it just terminates at the brake switch wiring then see my previous comments. If it goes elsewhere in the switch housing then we need to know where. Easiest way to tell would be to look inside the switch housing where the brake switch wires enter. You should only see (2) wires. If you see (3) wires, we need to know where the 3rd one goes. Personally I would not accept this stuff if it was rigged. Anything on my bars must be 100%. You may need that stuff to live one more day.

Thanks guys,

I really appreciate the help…

Any tips on removing the left side grip… And will contact cement suffice for an adhesive?

Thank you

Remove the end cap. With a small Philips screw driver stick it between the grip rubber and the handlebar. Spray some WD40 in there. Move the screwdriver down...spray some more. Eventually you'll be able to twist it right off. I would use what Kuryakyn recommends for glue, but I'd say the answer to your question is most likely yes. I use grip glue for non-heated grips.

I just did a set of Kuryakyn grips. I used run of the mill rubbing alcohol. It works great on rubber to metal contact and it dissolved the cement too.
The Kuryakyn grips were brand new, but I'm not so sure how long they have been sitting on the shelf......
Used the grip cement that came with it for the clutch side. I messed up the placement on the throttle side and had to pull it back off. Bought some Honda Grip cement for $3.99 and all is fine with the world now.
