Has anyone ever had the plastic fan strip off the motor shaft?  I was running my bike in the garage to get it hot to listen to the water pump start squealing which it did as the pressure built up.  When the fan kicked on it was real noisy and no air was moving.

Found my problems this evening.
Stupid electrician had run a cross over wire for his running lights below the radiator. They got pushed up by some triple digit riding into the fan area. Pulled and tested the fan and it runs fine.

Squealing water pump was an age issue with the impeller.  Seal is good but impeller rust caused it to grow and push back into the housing. impeller shaft stiff to turn still so bushing and old seals still holding. It actually squeaked some when I turned it by hand it is so tight.  I will save the pump as it still works good. The noise was scaring me. I will soak it in some rust remover to free it up and oil it up for storage.

As soon as my thermostat shows up I will go back to work and put it all together with all new rubber and clamps.

FYI draining oil- water, removal of all the pods, crash bars tank radiator and pump took less than two hours.

No, but I have seen the fans complete with the shroud on pinwall for reasonable.

sounds like its making contact with the rubber shroud above the radiator.

If you decide you need a fan, let me know. I have a good one on the workbench.

I orderd the plastic blade part and a new thermostat.  I think the motor is fine but the plastic blade part is broken. No air is coming out so it is not turning. If it were jammed and not turning it would not make the noise.  If it were turning even a little some air would come out.  I m taking her apart tonight for the autopsy. Will keep you posted.  I like new rubber and plastic parts when I can afford them.  If I need a new assembly I will buy used.  Blade was $35.

While at it (as you will have to remove the radiator off), why not install a water temperature gauge? ;-)

Another tip: it is relatively common for the steel bracket in the lower hose (the one that goes in the thermostatic valve) to get loose and leak coolant. I would recommend to add another bracket or replace it for a wider stainless steel bracket.
