I had a petcock failure that resulted in fuel all over the place (including about a gallon in the oil and filled number three cylinder). I decided to completely remove the carb bank and clean inside and out in the process of finding the float valve that stuck.
All the cleanup and refit went well thanks to an ultrasonic vat.
Oil and filter changed, cylinders purged and carbs reinstalled...all good,,,NOT!
Now I have a massive fuel leak between numbers 3 and 5 and numbers 2 and 6 carbs.
Take the carbs BACK out, order the Redeye Kit for repair and now for the real problem...
The six nuts on the Joint Bolts that connect the carbs are extremely frozen. I have been soaking them in SeliKrol, Liquid Wrench, and whatever else I can think of and they refuse to budge.
I can tell the rod itself is twisting and not just the nut when trying to loosen it.
My concern is twisting it off inside the carbs.
Any ideas?

My initial panic was a bit premature.
I finally just applied a sharp bit of force and they came loose.
Man, that was scary!
Now, just to replace all the parts and keep track of all those springs!
I'm planning on extensive photo use to get them all back in their original places.

Make sure to mark the carbs as to location. They are not interchangeable across the board, Some only fit in one position.

I watched a really good set of videos on youtube from a guy named D-Ray Smith last week. There is a set of about 4 or 5 that show rebuilding the carbs step by step. They are worth watching before you take on the project.

Haha, trust me, if you knew how OCD I can be you wouldn't worry about me getting them in the wrong place!

Thanks Jim, I did in fact find his videos. They were great references.

Got them all back together now and just need to replace the bowl gaskets and I'll be back on the road!
