Hope all is well in your worlds. My Aunt ran a marathon for her 60th birthday last year and was the inspiration for me training all year to run the Abq marathon for my 30th. Didn't happen, in fact I probably won't run again, but I was in the best shape possible to recovery from my accident. I'm doing pretty well, considering a piece of my spine was broke and my ribs all got squished, accordian style, into each other. I've been seeing a "healer," don't know what else to call her. She is an RN who practices massage therapy, orthobionamy, polarity, and homeopathy. I've also been doing the western medicine thing. They haven't really done much but stick electrodes to my back and condescend when I mention how much better I feel because of the healer. But they can't deny that only 6 weeks after the CT scan showed a 1/2inch gap between my L1 vertibrae and its transverse process the MRI shows nothing, not even a hint of a fracture. All they can do is scratch their heads, and continue condescending. I didn't start my final year at UNM because of the accident, but after all the body work and seeing the power of it 1st hand, I'm enrolled in Massage School- starts in a week. I'm hoping to become an apprentice to the woman who helped align my spine, but I need to start with some basics. I'm changing my educational goals for the umpeenth time, still don't know what I'm going to do with myself when I grow up. Chasing after what feels right... I haven't put the bike back together yet, still waiting on some insurance $$ to come through. I'll be looking for Forks, a left mirror, a left engine guard, and maybe some advice on who can do the work in Abq once that happens. Hope yours are keeping you happy and safe.

best of luck in your recovery You never know where life will lead you When I met Bonnie she was a CPA but it made her miserable. Thru a series of fortuitous events she evolved and changed her attitudes and her goals and after learning and studying with some world class folks is now a practicing herbalist who helps people and even animals. Go figure. Listen to that little voice in your head and you will do fine. Oss

When you come to the fork in the road, take it Yogi Berra (Don't send it to me C.O.D.)

I found hottub to be the best thing going after similar injuries and My doctor said if I would stop with the mixed drinks while in the hot tub and actually go to a swimming pool I could get back in shape! The rest of the time when I tell him it hurts he says " your lucky to walk and talk so get outta my office ! " western medicine is Cool, huh? The human body is amazing in its ability to heal,It just takes time. dont give up on your ability to adapt and overcome.

After several back injuries, tweaks, etc and going to the ortho Dr, chiropraters, etc, theraputic massage was what saved me from much excruciating pain. Got to be at one point I couldn't even climb a ladder, bend over to tie my shoes, etc. Now I'm more supple than at 25 years old. She does the music, mental stuff, wacky stuff on the walls and counters, but you know what, I pay $60 per trip for her to put me through much pain so I can be without pain. Good for you, and when you start working think of all the good you'll be doing folks like me that can sure mess up a good spine.

Freedom will ultimately cost more than we care to pay but will be worth every drop of blood to those who follow and cherrish it.
