So I'm drive through the back roads of Alabama, on a southern route to the house when I go over a rather rough seam for a road bridge connection. A few minutes later I notice my engine service light is on. Looking at my phone, since it's displaying my route, I notice there is zero cell signal where I am. I didn't see any other indications that there was a problem, and the engine sounded just fine so I chanced it that I could make it to the next gas station where there would be cell signal and see if turning the bike off and back on again would get the light to go off. That is exactly what happened.

So I'm guessing that the bump triggered the vibration detector on the bike and it thought that there might be something out of balance and causing a vibration. Do HD's even come equipped with such a sensor?

Some of those Harley guys add a vibration sensor in their rear seat.

Only their wives or girlfriends can tell if it's working though.   Roll Eyes Grin

Might have activated the Tip Over Sensor which shuts down the engine in case it Tips over or crashes.
Yes Harley has these also. The Police remove these in case of a tip over so they can restart immediatly and continue pursuit.

My Harley had it before, but this didn't shutdown, if the tip sensor would have activated it should have killed the engine... Right?

It was suggested that my gas cap might have been loose and the bump was enough for it to shake and the engine detected it and illuminated the light.
