The Landmass Between Mobile And New Orleans

« on: May 22, 2017, 10:38:33 PM »

Scott published my new tech article to Shoptalk tonight. I wrote it back in 2012 and saved it on a thumb drive which I misplaced. I found it a little while back and submitted it. Hope it helps.

I did the same thing on my 98 Tourer.  Works great.  You can get the heel/toe shifter from Chrome World.  Part number is 45-1620.  It comes with both the front and rear shift pegs, larger than OEM.  It took me a while, but I finally cut the stock shifter peg off the shift lever, drilled and tapped for  a 5/16 - 18 thread with a lock nut.  I need to use a bunch of washer to space the new peg out a little farther as it is too large to fit thru the opening of the heel/toe shifter, but with I had done it sooner.  Looks and feels great.  Nice solid shifts, either way.  I will post a photo later.

BTW--cost for the Chrome World unit was $55.95 with $7.99 shipping and it is gorgeous looking chrome.

That part looks very similar to Chet's Kick Shifter. Nice to see we have options for our bikes.
