Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« on: May 29, 2017, 01:01:04 PM »

Will be taking the bike to the dealer in a couple weeks to have service done and to track down a vibration issue. I want to throw out the vibration issue on the board here to see if anyone can give me some ideas of what they should be looking for.

Going down the road at hwy speed (In town I don't seem to deal with this at all.) usually in the 50+ range I will disengage the clutch and I get a vibration that feels like an eggbeater twirling away. Usually when I pull the clutch lever at speed it is like a magic carpet ride with no vibes at all. Now it is a "flutter" like an eggbeater.

No associated noise. No effects on handling at all. Solid as a rock on turns. Let the handle bars go and straight as an arrow.

Engage the clutch and the vibration goes away but can feel it on acceleration.

It might be related but on cold starts it ticks till it warms up. More like clacks.

I'm thinking U-joint or some bearing in the drive train or possibly the clutch itself.

Just looking for some feedback and if anyone has had similar experiences.

Like I said, it is going to the dealer in a couple weeks.

It's definitely a drive train issue. U joint or pinion cup. The ticking is normal. That's PAIR valves getting warmed up.
