If it's an OE polycarbinate shield, you have to rub off the coating.
Lot's of posts on here about polishing them, and I'll bet a bunch of Utubes on it too.
Unless you enjoy the challenge, buying a new one is so much easier, and not that expensive.
On this subject, I recently brought home a jug of stuff from the auto parts to polish out my faded car headlight covers. Well, I rubbed and polished and really put some sweat equity into one side, and 40 minutes later, that side was worse than the one I didn't do.
I didn't use my 10" random orbital buffer because I didn't want to mess up my paint (or mess with masking).
I strongly considered using my belt sander with 40 grit on it, just to get even.
